More Congressional and Senate staffers than last year came to hear fascinating and informative insights from Southwest Airlines, Amazon, and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) experts explaining the air cargo operations process and the industry's essential role in our nation's commerce. We especially want to thank our many friends who made today such a successful event. We look forward to another tour next year! Dwindling airfreight capacity will not be able to accommodate a surge coming from ocean traffic. The White House needs to intervene now.

Our Members Are Ready to Navigate the Seaport Strike As tens of thousands of dockworkers went on strike early Tuesday along the Eastern Seaboard and Gulf Coast, effectively shutting down ports from Maine to Texas, our members at the Airforwarders Association are prepared to help their shippers navigate the impact. With years of freight forwarding knowledge and experience, they are utilizing every available option to minimize disruption and ensure cargo continues moving. While military shipments and oil and gas won’t be affected, the strike’s potential ripple effect on consumer goods like semiconductors and bananas is a growing concern. The longer this strike lasts, the more significant the consequences for companies and consumers alike, with estimates suggesting it could cost the U.S. economy $5 billion per day. Our members are already taking proactive steps to support their clients during this challenging time. Tomorrow morning, I’ll be discussing this and other critical logistics issues at the JOC Inland Distribution Conference in Chicago.
