  • 😺 We are excited that Shareen Wong will be running in the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon to support our AMC to the Rescue fund! 🩺 Shareen, a third year veterinary student, is supporting this fund because her cat, Tato, was born with a severe congenital condition called pectus excavatum. Tato's rescuers received a grant through AMC to the Rescue, which meant he could receive his life-saving procedure! 🌟 As a future veterinarian, Shareen wants to advocate for her patients and hopes that funding will never be the reason why animals cannot receive the care they deserve! 💙 You can support her fundraiser here: https://lnkd.in/e3r3tS46 Go Shareen! 👟👏 #AMCtotheRescue #AMCTTR

  • #UsdanPetTips When we see our pets every day, it can be hard to notice when they put on weight. Yet, a survey by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention found that 59% of dogs and 61% of cats in the U.S. are overweight or obese. And carrying even a few extra pounds can affect your pet’s longevity and quality of life. 🙀 If you think your pet may be overweight, the best thing to do is discuss it with your veterinarian. ✋ In between visits, this handy trick can help you monitor the situation. For more tips and strategies, visit our pet health library. 🐶 https://lnkd.in/gt3UXRrQ 🐈 https://lnkd.in/giSXd2qH

    • Pet obesity: The Hand Trick. To get a sense as to whether your pet is overweight, run your hand along their side to feel their ribcage and then compare it to different parts of your hand.
Knuckles while making a fist: too thin. Upper palm: overweight. Side of palm near thumb: obese. Knuckles on back of flat hand: ideal! If you think your pet is overweight, discuss with your veterinarian.
