A ballot proposal to alter how tipped workers get paid has failed, based on unofficial results. Proposition 138, the so-called Tipped Workers Protection Act, would have reduced most tipped workers' #pay below the current minimum standard on the theory it would help businesses. The Associated Press called the race as initial results Tuesday showed it losing by more than 75%. Results on election night are unofficial. The Arizona Restaurant Association and business groups supporting the measure claimed it was sorely needed because of a nationwide push by labor activists to raise the minimum wage and eliminate the lesser pay for tipped workers known as the tip credit. They worry the increased labor costs will stifle restaurant entrepreneurs and, in turn, local economies. 🔗 Read more from Ray Stern on preposition 138 and view election results from Arizona: https://lnkd.in/gJxdaQqq
