October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! 👷♂️This week's spotlight is Daniel!👷♂️ Growing up, Daniel wanted to be a football player. His motivation to seek out a career, in his words, was "to feel useful again and improve [his] financial situation." Daniel's favorite part about his job is working with different people and the diversity there. His advice for other individuals with disabilities who are looking for a career is "don't let your disabilities hold you back from seeking a job. You're more than your disability." #NationalDisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth #DisabilityEmployment #DiversityAtWork

💜Today is the LAST DAY of National Recovery Month!💜 As we reflect on all of the other themes for this month, one general sentiment stays the same: supporting each other through recovery. As cheesy as it sounds, if we work as a team, we can all help each other become our better selves in our journeys to recovery. Friendship is a superpower! 💪❤️ During #RecoveryMonth and beyond, reach out to a friend 👋 in #recovery and invite them to join you in activities that support their recovery journey. 🏓⚽🧩 https://lnkd.in/gApze4-U #NationalRecoveryMonth

🇺🇸 Recently, our Self-Advocacy Specialist, Hannah Miller, attended the ANCOR American Network of Community Options and Resources 2024 Policy Summit & Hill Day in Washington DC! 🇺🇸 Grounded in our commitment to the community providers who make inclusion a reality every day, the Summit brought together leading advocates from the national I/DD community. Together, we amplified awareness about the latest developments and future needs in community disability services. 🕯️🍃Practice Self-Compassion🍵📔 While talking about helping ourselves and others, there is a huge component that is needed to be able to do so: our own wellbeing. With the conjunction of National Recovery Month and Suicide Prevention Month this September, the topic of Self-Compassion becomes an important one for discussion. So, how does Practice Self-Compassion? 🕯️Acknowledge your feelings: Recognize your emotions without judgment. It's natural to feel overwhelmed or stressed. 🍃Speak kindly to yourself: Replace self-critical thoughts with affirming ones. Instead of “I’m not doing enough,” think, “I’m doing my best, and that's enough.” 🍵Take mindful breaks: Set aside time daily for activities that recharge you, like walking, deep breathing, or quiet reflection. 📔Seek support: Reach out to trusted friends, mentors, or counselors when you need help. It's okay to ask for support just as you offer it to others. Whatever you do to help yourself, remember: you're helping yourself to help others as well. #PracticeSelfCompassion #SelfCompassion #NationalRecoveryMonth #SuicidePreventionMonth #MentalHealthAwareness #Mindfulness #SelfCare #EmotionalWellness
