Keynote Paul S. Lavoie, chief manufacturing officer of the state of Connecticut, shared that the biggest challenges in manufacturing include developing the workforce and attracting talent, building supply chain resiliency and driving innovation. Who agrees? ✋ How do we combat these challenges and drive impact at scale? Lavoie shared we do this by creating and implementing programs that: ✅ Develop talent by increasing awareness of manufacturing careers and education opportunities for younger generations (You know, the generations who see Amazon packages magically appear on their front porch!) ✅ Create the climate for growth by increasing the labor participation rate ✅ Maximize productivity by developing a statewide industrial automation plan via Engage.
