📍 Reporting from an incredible gathering- the AV Roadshow at the Technical University of Munich (TUM)! 🚗💨 Today, FTM Institute of Automotive Technology TUM hosted a fantastic event at the Garching campus, and the excitement continues tomorrow. TUM’s outstanding researchers showcased their cutting-edge developments using #Autoware software across various booths. This compartmentalized approach made it easy to follow and appreciate the intricacies of an AV software’s complex architecture and how seamlessly everything ties together. 🧩✨ Visitors also had the opportunity to take a ride in TUM’s EDGAR (Excellent Driving GARching), powered by software that’s 80% built on the latest version of Autoware. You might recognize #EDGAR from its appearance at #Oktoberfest in Munich just two weeks ago! 🍂🍻 TUM has fully embraced Autoware software and transformed it into a microservices architecture that enhanced performance while simplifying development and deployment. The commitment across TUM, not just from FTM but from multiple faculties, has resulted in an impressive array of added functionalities and tools that can be built on top of Autoware’s ecosystem. Some noteworthy innovations include: 🔹 A flexible teleoperation system, adaptable to varying levels of operator control based on the use case 🔹 V2X implementations based on industry standards, enabling seamless AV-infrastructure communication 🔹 Robust safety tools 🛡️: assessment, validation, verification, and analysis rooted in theoretical expertise and real-world testing 🔹 Groundbreaking autonomous driving algorithms embedded in every aspect of the AD stack 🔹 A suite of simulation tools, from digital twin simulators to traffic simulators—and sometimes both combined! What’s most exciting? TUM’s open-source approach 🌍. They plan to upstream all these critical advancements back into the Autoware project, driving innovation for the entire community. 🌟 Exciting Journey into Autonomous Driving with Autoware! 🌟 Thank you  KGiSL Educational Institutions, Thoughtworks and KGXperience for helping me to deep dive into the world of autonomous driving 🚗 . I am have started working from #KGiSLFMTC a technology center for Autonomous driving and learning Autoware has become an exciting challenge for me. Autoware, an open-source software stack for autonomous vehicles, opens up endless possibilities in the future of transportation created by Autoware Foundation. The idea of contributing to systems that could one day drive themselves is thrilling! My background in ROS and embedded systems gives me a solid foundation to build upon, but there are challenges ahead—especially with the need for powerful hardware like GPUs for sensor fusion and real-time simulations in RViz or Gazebo. Yet, these challenges are part of the fun. Each obstacle is an opportunity to grow as a Robotics Engineer. What excites me the most is creating autonomous simulations and understanding how vehicles perceive and navigate their surroundings. The potential impact on safety, traffic reduction, and mobility makes this journey incredibly rewarding, and I can't wait to dive deeper into it.
