Your first smartphone. It came loaded with so many apps and features it was tempting to try all of them. Over time, you found the ones that you live by. Like that first smartphone, implementing a visibility system using AIDC and EPCIS technologies will give you more data than you need. But with careful decision-making and planning, your system will give you what you need. At our Traceability Across Industries Value Chain Summit (Oct. 21-22), Ned Mears of GS1 US will facilitate a discussion to design a visibility system that provides the data you need. When Axia chose "Traceability Across Value Chains” as the theme for this year's Value Chain Summit, we set out to find a keynote speaker who could talk about regulations across multiple industries and supply chain implications. But we also wanted someone with first-hand knowledge of the consumer's perspective. We are thrilled to announce Frank Yiannas, renowned food safety leader and executive, will be our keynote speaker. As more industries are integrating RFID into their supply chain, the Axia Institute and Axia Lab are ensuring undergraduate and graduate students are familiar with the technology. We regularly partner with the Michigan State University - Eli Broad College of Business, the A-CAPP Center, and the Michigan State University College of Engineering, just to name a few. Axia provides students with hands-on experience in its nationally recognized RFID Lab, located in Midland, an easy 70-minute drive from East Lansing. Recently, a few students from the School of Packaging learned how traceability works with an RFID tag. They tested over-the-counter medicine for the best location to place an RFID tag for reading accuracy.
