It's Back-to-School Season! Lots of fun the past few weeks being back on-site with educators and students at Back-to-School and Meet-the-Teacher Nights around Mid-Tennessee. 🌱

Physical Activity is beneficial not only for student physical health, but also their academic performance, classroom behavior, and school attendance. 🌱

This is how The bKYND Company is teaching social media to the next generation: Students these day are going to be the most plugged-in generation ever… until their kids come along, and then their grandkids, and etc. It doesn’t make any sense to completely condemn social media; it’s a part of everyday life and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Besides, it has its pros and cons: 🔋 Social Media allows people to stay connected and learn from each other from opposite sides of the globe. It encourages creativity, can help shape identity, and even be used as a source of income. 🪫 Social Media can also be addictive, a source of comparison and self-doubt, and take the place of meaningful, in person connection. With all of these things being true, it comes down to how you use it. Instead of teaching young people that social media is inherently bad, we teach how to implement safe, healthy practices and the importance of balancing screen time with physical activity and in-person community. Students aren’t going to listen if you tell them their cell phone and favorite apps are evil (especially when you have one yourself). They may, however, consider your advice if you explain how their devices can be used in a way that supports a happier, healthier, tomorrow 🌱

It’s our first day of Summer Programming! Over the next few months, we’ll be bringing our Building Healthy Habits program to a few select groups throughout Mid-TN. This curriculum focuses on the main pillars of health + wellness, and how each work together to benefit overall wellbeing. This holistic approach provides a foundation on which students can develop life-long healthy habits. Here’s to building a happier, healthier tomorrow! 🌱
