About us
From Swivol Media and The Product Bus comes The Bootstrap: Building Startups from Scratch - your weekly source of news and practical support for bootstrapping founders - or founders building their business with their own effort and funds and no external investors. The Bootstrap unpacks strategies that any founder can apply to make smart, data-informed decisions as they navigate the early stages of building a startup. We focus on helping founders avoid the common pitfalls that stop many great ideas from becoming a reality. Each episode, we start with one or two news items that bootstrapping founders need to know, and then host Scotty Allen (Founder of The Product Bus) is joined by a guest who brings their experience and subject matter to a specific topic with practical, actionable strategies that founders can take away and apply immediately to their own business.

Such a privilege to have Kane Jackson on a recent episode talking about the truly game-changing work he and the team at Maslow® are doing!
Chasing Financial Equality For Humanity @ Maslow. Formerly a child, ex-boyfriend, multiple exits from conversations and have never been afraid of a pronoun (I'm very brave).
"The finance industry is like the healthcare industry. We don't engage with it by choice. We have to use it. We can't exist without it. We shouldn't have one that actively benefits if they undermine our outcomes" The reason I'm in finance comes from my time in healthcare, and this interview I did with Scotty Allen 🚌 outlines why I believe that good healthcare starts by rebuilding the finance industry. Lots of people mistake me as friend of finance, and of fintech. I'm not. I'm here to drive change that I couldn't in healthcare. I'm still obsessed with patient outcomes. It's just that this industry calls them customers, which is half the problem.

Our latest episode features Kane Jackson from Maslow® talking about Maslow's recent successful crowdfunding campaign on the Birchal platform. When you hear the word crowdfunding you might think about that Kickstarter you backed for that groovy new gadget that you may or may not have ever received, or the GoFundMe that you donated to help someone going through something terrible, but until recently you may not have thought of it as a viable option for funding your startup. So, how does crowdfunding for startups work, who should try it, and what should you watch out for? Listen to find out! Out now wherever you get your podcasts. #crowdfunding #startups #founders

The Bootstrap is back with a brand new series of fantastic conversations about the early startup days and beyond! This episode we chat with return guest 🤖 Yaniv Bernstein of The Startup Podcast to ask "How does bootstrapping make you a better founder?" Out now wherever you get your podcasts! #bootstrapping #startups #scaleups #podcast ----------- Episode description: At the start, every business is a bootstrapped business. Founders inject their own capital and/or sweat to get things rolling, and then work out what funding model or models is most likely to work for their idea. It’s easy to want to skip through the hard bits and get to the moment where cash is raining down from the sky, but there are things about bootstrapping that give you insights into building businesses that you don’t get anywhere else. To talk about the ways that bootstrapping can make you a better founder, we're joined by Yaniv Bearnstein. Yaniv has had long tenures at Google and Airtasker and is co-host of The Startup Podcast which focuses on building Silicon-Valley style startups.

What is an Impact Startup and how do you build one? Annette Rose from Kids Get Money joins us on our latest episode to share her own journey and give us insights into the world of Impact Startups in general. Also on this episode: AgriFutures evokeAG kicked off its year with a conference in Perth, where chair Cathy McGowan highlighted some of the most important issues for those working in Ag-Tech and Climate-Tech spaces. (Special shout out to Pappyon who are the official digital event space partner for evoke!) AI Unicorn Inflection AI is being acquired by its biggest investor - Microsoft - which comes as a surprise as it had announced a $1.3 billion raise in June 2023.
