“It’s not about the future potential, it’s actually here now!” 💥 Our CEO and founder David Jones sat down with Google VP and Managing Director of France Sébastien Missoffe this month to discuss his vision for Brandtech and how we see Gen AI changing the way consumers connect with brands. 💥 “It’s going to fundamentally disrupt marketing beyond all recognition,” says David. “I think it will be a bigger revolution in marketing than television, the internet and mobile combined. “Brandtech has found a way to avoid bias in generative AI” Brandtech launches Bias Breaker, an innovative technology that aims to combat the well-known biases of generative AI. Integrated into the Pencil generative AI platform, this technology introduces probability-based inclusivity criteria into prompts, such as age, origins or gender identity. The goal is to create results that reflect a broader diversity, moving away from traditional biases and paving the way for more responsible AI. ⚖️ In our tests, we found that some LLMs showed between 98-100% images of men when asked to generate ‘a CEO’. Similarly, when La Réclame conducted their own tests to compare against our Bias Breaker results, they found that Midjourney generated one female image from 100 ‘CEO’ images generated. 💥 “The CEO example is just one of the many ways bias manifests itself, and it’s the simple use case we used to demonstrate the challenges and implications of not addressing bias,” says Rebecca Sykes, Brandtech Partner and Head of Emerging Tech. “There are many other examples, from the obvious – nurses and care workers are overwhelmingly female, there’s a distinct lack of disability representation, etc – to the much more nuanced. When the present day, the future and history all combine. ⚡ Speaking about the tectonic change underway thanks to AI and how it will lead to the greatest creative revolution since the beginning of humanity, is especially poignant in the lecture theater of a near-500-year-old Jesus College, Oxford. 💥 “Everything else we’ve had to cope with since the 1950s has been a vertical: television advertising is a vertical, the internet, social media, ecommerce, gaming are all verticals. We're using AI to generate exponential scale and drive massive brand performance. 💥 “AI is a technology - and its application, and therefore its impact, is entirely dependent on who uses it, to do what and for what gain. So I think the big question is: is your brand in good or bad health?” 💥 Our Head of Emerging Tech and Partner, Rebecca Sykes, took part in MIT Technology Review’s incredible EmTech conference earlier this month, where she explained why brands need to understand and codify who they are more than ever in the age of AI. 💥 “If you know who you are - by which I mean you know what you stand for, you know what makes you different, you know how you look, how you sound, why people love you, what they expect from you - then your brand has values and purpose, and people align with that. 💥 “For you, AI has the potential to infinitely scale the impact of this. You are going to easily be able to codify your brand so it can be read by a machine. AI-led automation and scaling of marketing will, therefore, be a very natural and hugely beneficial step for your brand.” 💥 She continued: “If you don't know who you are, your brand understanding is low, you're not very distinctive, then codifying your brand from this starting point to leverage AI is going to be really, really difficult. You are likely to exponentially scale the problems that you have.
