This weeks Hebrew word of the week is "יד". In Judaism, a yad (meaning 'hand') is used to read the Torah without touching the sacred scrolls. This beautiful pointer helps protect the text while guiding the reader along each holy word. Pictured here are photos from our past exhibit, The Guiding Hand, made delicately by various artists.

indelible mark in theater. ✨ From crafting groundbreaking narratives to breaking barriers, their contributions continue to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide. Alfred Uhry's The Last Night of Ballyhoo (Alliance Theatre, 1998) explore the humor and complexities of Jewish identity, while Driving Miss Daisy beautifully portrays the intersection of Southern Jewish and Black experiences. There’s always a powerful story to be told, and Jewish voices keep bringing them to life on screen. Take a look inside our exhibition "History With Chutzpah", where we dive into many aspects of Jewish life. Pictured here, playbills from Driving Miss Daisy, Last Night of Ballyhoo, and more. Find more information about these artifacts with our online archives.
