I’ve got a little challenge for you today. Let's see if you can figure out what connects these roles:   Two - Nursing Home Administrators Four - Interim Nursing Home Administrators Two - Directors of Nursing One - Interim Director of Nursing One - Chief Nursing Officer One - Regional Vice President Two - Regional Nurses One - Regional MDS Specialist   Take a moment, think about it... What's the common thread?   Here's the reveal: All these positions are roles where The Chasteen Group had the joy of matching fantastic individuals to our clients in just the last 90 days!   This mini-puzzle isn't just for fun; it's a reminder of how interconnected we are in our mission to improve senior care services. Each placement has been a step towards enhancing care, supporting teams, and making a difference in Skilled Nursing Facilities across the nation.   (Ok… blatant self-promotion but, we are pretty proud of the work we are doing!)

December’s demanding hours in nursing homes can take a toll, not just on us, but on our loved ones at home. For those with a spouse or partner, the strain of this busy season can amplify any underlying tensions.   A healthy home life is a cornerstone for emotional resilience, particularly during these high-pressure times.   But wait you say…….. staffing is a bear, especially during the Holidays! How am I supposed to balance time off requests and caring for the residents?   There are no magic bullets. And I don’t pretend to have the answers, it was a struggle every year when I was a NHA.   Regardless, leaders in Skilled Nursing have a pivotal role in recognizing and addressing this. Ensuring staff have adequate time off in December isn't just a scheduling task; it's an act of empathy and care.   It's about protecting our team's well-being, truly understanding that they have lives and relationships beyond work walls.   Creating a supportive work environment means acknowledging the pressures that come with extended work hours. Talk about it at a staff meeting, get out on the floor and ‘touch’ the people caring for the residents, give staff an extra 15 minute break while the department heads manage the floor. These small gestures can make a significant difference in the lives of those who dedicate themselves to caring for others.   In this holiday season, let's commit to safeguarding our staff's personal lives as diligently as we do their professional responsibilities.   By fostering a balance between work and home, we not only uplift our teams but also enhance the quality of care we provide.

Ghosting taken to a new level!   We've all experienced that mix of emotions. Securing a new job offer is thrilling, but it can quickly be overshadowed by unexpected reservations and doubts.   It's entirely natural to feel this way after a major decision. Yet, when faced with such uncertainties, maintaining your professionalism becomes even more crucial.   Ghosting an employer or recruiter is not the solution. Disappearing without communication disrupts the hiring process and can adversely affect others who applied for the same role.   Moreover, ghosting can lead to unforeseen consequences. It has the potential to tarnish your reputation in a tightly-knit industry.   Believe it or not, twice in the last month my client and I have been ghosted by candidates who have accepted a Nursing Home Administrator position!    Here’s some advice.   Communicate: Open communication is the better path. If you're rethinking the offer, it's best to let the employer or recruiter know.   Communicate:  A sincere phone call or a well-composed email can suffice. It's always best to be honest and upfront about your feelings.   Communicate: You don't need to dive into every detail. Sometimes, a concise statement like "I'm withdrawing my acceptance" is adequate.   Communicate:  Remember, true professionalism encompasses respect and integrity. Through clear communication, you demonstrate respect for the employer's time and effort.   In the end, the way you navigate these challenging moments speaks volumes about your character. It's essential to ensure you leave a lasting positive impression, irrespective of the situation's complexity.   And in case I have not been clear I will say it again...... Communicate!

The Chasteen Group is growing! It's all in the family! My son, Jesse, has recruited with me for 8+ years. My youngest daughter, Natalyn, has been sourcing, primarily Director of Nursing / Clinicians for about 6 months. Next week, my oldest daughter, Brooke, is going to start in and also focus on Nurse Managers, MDS Candidates, etc. My wife is the only hold out now..... I won't hold my breath though 🤣.

There's a rising trend in Skilled Nursing / Long Term Care that has caught everyone’s attention. The demand for the role of Director of Nursing has never been so pronounced.   We're in the process of bringing on another search assistant, especially for these pivotal roles. And the reasons for this are evident.   Our nursing homes face a concerning shortage of nurses. But, what’s even more daunting? The scarcity of nurses willing to step into management roles that demand 24-hour responsibilities.   The Director of Nursing role isn't for everyone. It's rigorous, demanding, and can be overwhelming.   Yet, those who commit to it deserve nothing short of our admiration. They don't just take on the role; they embrace it, reflecting their unwavering passion for caring for seniors.   To those who've taken up this mantle and thrive within it, kudos to you! The healthcare world is better for your dedication. We need more professionals like you, now more than ever.
