About us
The mission of Children’s Place Association is building a secure and hopeful today so children facing health issues and poverty succeed tomorrow. We transform the lives of children in the very worst circumstances – those confronting illness and extreme poverty – helping them overcome challenges and lead their best lives. Children’s Place Association was opened in 1991 to help children affected by HIV/AIDS. We developed innovative programs to address the many challenges faced by low-income children and families coping with the illness. Over time, Children’s Place Association expanded its influence, applying our approach to help children and families facing other health challenges. Today we serve more than 350 Chicago-area children and caregivers annually, and our international program helps 330 children in the Caribbean. We’ve opened our doors to help children and families who struggle with a wide variety of conditions and disabilities. These include cancer, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, heart conditions, autism and spina bifida. Some children have developmental disabilities or delays. Others suffer the physical and emotional effects of abuse or neglect. And we continue our strong commitment to those affected by HIV/AIDS. While medical advancements have nearly eliminated transmission of HIV from mothers to newborns in the U.S., thousands of children are impacted by their parents’ HIV-related conditions. Children’s Place remains the Chicago area’s leading provider of children’s services for families living with HIV/AIDS. Besides health challenges, the common link among all those we serve is extreme poverty. Children’s Place Association targets these interrelated issues in order to break the cycle of poverty and illness. We believe children everywhere should have the chance to lead their best lives. This is the value upon which Children’s Place was founded – and one that continues to guide us.

On last week, I was fortunate to enjoy a great time of learning and engagement provided by RSM at the Microsoft Chicago offices. The Non-Profit Tech Talk led by such amazing professionals at RSM, was outstanding. Shoutout to Patricio Cadena and Cody McLees for the extended conversation afterward. Great time! More to come. #childrensplaceassociation #forward #learning #engagement

🔬Our toddlers are budding scientists, exploring and investigating how the world works around them! Every day is a new opportunity for discovery, where their curiosity sparks learning and growth. Early education plays a vital role in building a thriving community. We’re setting the foundation for a future filled with endless possibilities by fostering these early moments of wonder. Together, we’re shaping the next generation of explorers, thinkers, and leaders. #childrensplaceassociation #cpakids #childthrive #earlylearning #positiveimpact #communitysupport

🦷💙 Families had so much fun while learning together at our recent Home Based socialization! They went home with dental hygiene kits to support healthy habits and cuddly stuffed animals for extra comfort. Moments filled with joy and learning significantly impact early education, wellness, and building connections. 🖤 #childrensplaceassociation #cpakids #childthrive #earlylearning #positiveimpact #communitysupport

Moving, learning, and growing together! Families came together at our second Home Based socialization of the month to explore the joy of physical activity and movement! Little ones practiced yoga poses, stretching their bodies and imaginations, while parents joined in the fun. Early education is about more than just ABCs and 123s—it’s about building strong foundations through socialization, active play, and moments that inspire a lifelong love of learning. Together, we’re helping children and families thrive, one stretch, smile, and connection at a time. #childrensplaceassociation #cpakids #childthrive #earlylearning #positiveimpact #communitysupport

When people come together, amazing things happen. At Children’s Place Association, we see this daily: families building stability, children reaching their potential, and a community standing strong for one another. The Care Circle is a way to contribute to that impact. Our members help sustain our work through small monthly donations, providing resources, programs, and opportunities that help children and families move forward. Every contribution, regardless of size, contributes to our mission. Food is love.
We’re grateful to A & L Youth & Family Services, State Rep. Jawaharial 'Oma' Williams, Senator Lakesia Collins, and Alderman & Vice Mayor Walter Burnett, Jr. for hosting a generous free food giveaway for CPA families! With fresh groceries from Trader Joe’s, 22 families could select the proteins, produce, and dairy that fit their needs. This incredible event also sparked a new opportunity: Our case manager, Angelica, is working to establish a partnership so CPA can serve as a food drop-off center in the future. Community support reminds us that when we come together, we all thrive. Thank you to our incredible hosts for making this possible! #childrensplaceassociation #cpakids #childthrive #earlylearning #positiveimpact #communitysupport
