Congratulations to our partner Desinformemonos on their 15th Anniversary! They celebrate 15 years of dedication and excellence in journalism. Here’s to many more years of truth and resilience. This powerful short film demonstrates the importance of securing land rights for Indigenous Peoples. We are grateful to our partner Rights and Resources Initiative for highlighting the incredible work of the National League of Indigenous Pygmy Associations of the Congo. #IndigenousKnowledge #IndigenousPeoples #LandRights #TenureRights #Conservation #IndigenousConservation #Congo
🌍 Exciting News! We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new short film showcasing a groundbreaking initiative to support Indigenous + community rights and conservation in Bombwanza, Democratic Republic of the Congo! 🎥 Join us as we delve into the incredible work of the National League of Indigenous Pygmy Associations of the Congo. Through community consultations and participatory mapping, they have secured two land title documents for the region’s Indigenous and local communities, helping them protect and sustainably manage 100,000 hectares of their ancestral forests from mining and oil concessions. Since 2021, regional and global allies—including the Rights and Resources Initiative, #REPALEAC, the Global Alliance of Territorial Communities, and #CampaignforNature — have partnered through CLARIFI, our rightsholder-led funding mechanism, to strengthen collective rights and help achieve climate and conservation goals in the biodiversity-rich Congo Basin and its vital ecosystems. ✨ Watch the film to witness the power of community-led action and rights-based conservation! ✨ #SustainableDevelopment #IndigenousPeoples #Conservation #ClimateAction #LandRightsNow

Don't miss this comprehensive report that our partner Forest Peoples Programme launched today at #COP16Colombia.
New report launches today at #COP16Colombia! A comprehensive guide for conservation practitioners on integrating human rights into conservation practices. The guide developed by FPP and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Conservation Science of the University of Oxford includes practical tools, an overview of key international standards, and more, for a more effective and inclusive approach to conservation. It is beyond time to realise human rights-based approaches to conservation. Inequitable and exclusive conservation has caused too much harm for too long. “We are the guardians of biodiversity; it's only fair that funding reaches those fulfilling this role.” - Dinamam Tuxa #IndigenousPeoples #DirectFinancing #BiodiversityGuardians #IndigenousLedSolutions #COP16
At COP16, leaders like Levi Sucre, Dinamam Tuxa, Kleber Karipuna and Juan Carlos Jintiach highlighted a pressing issue: the need for direct financing for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPs & LCs). These communities are biodiversity’s frontline defenders, yet barriers to multilateral funds persist. As Dinamam Tuxa emphasized, “We are the guardians of biodiversity; it's only fair that funding reaches those fulfilling this role.” Throughout the week, discussions centered on practical solutions to ensure IPs and LCs have access to the resources needed to continue their conservation work. By breaking down finance access barriers, we’re moving closer to a future where biodiversity protection is community-led, resilient, and equitable. 🌱 Articulação dos Povos Indígenas do Brasil (APIB) #DirectFinancing #COP16 #BiodiversityConservation #EnvironmentalJustice #SustainableFunding 📸 Kamikia Kisedje
