    At Clorox, we strive to make an impact in the communities we serve. And who better to model that behavior than our IDEA/Social Impact teams? During a recent onsite meeting, they spent time packing nonperishable food items for TABLE, a nonprofit dedicated to addressing childhood hunger. In addition to their hands-on efforts, The Clorox Company Foundation donated $5,000 to further support TABLE’s mission of providing nutritious meals to local kids.

    Over the last decade, we've partnered with Equal Justice Works to fund fellowships through The Clorox Company Foundation that focus on supporting community wellness. One of those fellows, Elissa Gray, works with the Family Violence Appellate Project to protect the legal rights of low-income domestic violence survivors in California.     Nicholas Lovett is a production scheduler at our Burt's Bees plant in Morrisville, North Carolina, but some know him by another title. “They call me a Swiss Army knife,” he laughs. “I’ve been with the company for 11 years — I started out on the floor as a production associate, I worked in materials, I worked in quality, and now in scheduling. All of the knowledge that I've gained in each of those departments has helped out in my current role.” Nick takes a lot of pride in his work. “I'm always learning something new,” he says. “I love to learn, because knowledge is infinite. My dad always told me, ‘Learn like you'll live forever, live like you'll die tomorrow.’ I know that's something that I try to do — just go in headfirst.” That headfirst mentality paid off for Nick and his team when they were recognized by their business unit for a cost-saving innovation. “We tried to figure out ways to reuse our bulk material to maximize its shelf life. Using my expertise in materials management as well as quality, we were able come up with methodology on how to recertify bulk and be able to reuse it — we haven't had any expired bulk since January.” Teamwork and professional support have been part of Nick’s growth, but he’s also felt supported by the Clorox benefits package at home. “My daughter was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. And my wife, she's type 1 as well,” he says. “The benefits that the company offers from an insurance standpoint have been really valuable to us.” Those benefits include classes and events where other people who are type 1 diabetic can come together. “When you work with these people, they genuinely do care about you,” Nick says. “There’s a sense of family, people reaching out, showing that they care — that means a lot.” Just as with his daily responsibilities, Nick’s also motivated by a sense of pride in working for a company like Clorox. “Clorox has been around for a hundred years, so I feel like if you're with the company you're doing something right.     Our Atlanta Main plant in Georgia recently celebrated the hard work it's put into building a winning culture. With operations shut down for the entire day, over 500 teammates and their families came together for food and fun, furthering the camaraderie that's translated to business success while living our values, including putting people at the center.

    With demand for certified eco-conscious products on the rise, our CloroxPro business is delivering. It just introduced Clorox EcoClean Disinfecting Wipes, which are made from naturally derived ingredients and a 100% plant-based substrate. They're certified by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) programs Design for the Environment, which signifies products that meet stringent health and safety standards as well as other rigorous criteria, and Safer Choice, which meets a standard that includes criteria for safer chemical ingredients and performance, packaging, pH and VOC requirements.     Fighting food insecurity and supporting education among young people are two ways we make a difference in our communities. Recently, our LA-based teammates partnered with Westside Food Bank to pack 250 meal kits for local kids. And our BELIEVE ERG hosted 22 students from All Tied Up Bay Area for a tour of our Pleasanton campus, including our R&D labs, to learn about our company and STEM careers. During June and July, volunteers gave over 1,300 hours of their time to various causes. For their service, we donated 128,000 meals, thanks to our 1 Hour=100 Meals initiative. We're proud to see them living our purpose — helping people be well and thrive — in the places we call home.
