Catalyzing climate action at the community level through collaboration, programs, and policy advocacy.
About us
We believe the power to confront climate change resides within our communities. We believe citizens, businesses, and local governments have the power to take action, implement policy, and reduce emissions right here in our own backyard of Central Virginia. C3 catalyzes climate action at the community level through collaboration, programs, and advocacy which directly reduce climate emissions and elevate the climate leadership of Virginia communities. We work closely with citizens, businesses, local governments, schools, and nonprofits to develop climate action plans which build in equity while drastically reducing climate pollution. These plans include tangible and measurable actions that are accessible to any individual or organization's needs. We believe that C3's action at the local level can serve as a model for community climate action throughout the Commonwealth and beyond.

Our support for cleaner transportation in our community continues! Here are some views from the train last week on our way to join a delegation from Charlottesville and Albemarle County to check out the onsite zero-emission hydrogen bus fuel production facility in Champaign-Urbana, IL! ⚡🌱 It has been informative to learn all about how MTD runs its system inside and out while paying special attention to its modern, super-reliable hybrid diesel buses. CAT is currently expanding its fleet in advance of its plans to decarbonize the fleet by 2040 - join C3 in calling for an expansion that uses cleaner diesel-hybrid buses instead of conventional diesel, and let's get a jump start on decarbonization now! Stay tuned for the release of more photos and our our blog recapping more about what we learned during our visit there! 🚌💫

Exciting progress in Virginia’s climate efforts! The Virginia Conservation Network and The Community Climate Collaborative are highlighting federal funding opportunities that are driving transformative change in our state’s climate action efforts. Programs like the Low or No Emission Grant Program are not only increasing federal investment in clean transportation but are also empowering local communities to transition to zero-emission bus fleets. 🚨 Tomorrow, October 25th, is the deadline to request your absentee ballot! 🗳️ We had a great time at last night's 2024 Mayorathon—hearing from Richmond's mayoral candidate's ideas to address key issues like transportation, housing, and the environment before heading to the polls. We're excoted to be one of the many incredible non-profit partners who helped develop questions for the event. Election Day is approaching quickly on November 5th! If you still need to vote, learn more about your options and make your plan to cast your ballot!
