News | The Copper Mark in Peru A third of copper mine production and 60% of molybdenum production in Peru is now from sites that have been awarded The Copper Mark or The Molybdenum Mark, respectively. This represents a significant milestone for responsible mining practices in Peru, the second largest copper producer in the world. The Copper Mark and The Molybdenum Mark Award | Cuajone, Ilo and Toquepala SOUTHERN PERU COPPER CORPORATION’s Ilo smelter received The Copper Mark, while their Toquepala and Cuajone mines obtained The Copper Mark and The Molybdenum Mark. Congratulations to this team, who are part of Grupo México. The number of sites that have completed our assurance process in Peru is now six. Combined, the output of the six sites represent 30% and 60% of copper and molybdenum mine production, respectively.
