🧺 The École's Back-to-School Picnics on Randall's Island are legendary - and this year's was no different! Over 600 members of the community (staff, students, families, alumni, and friends) attended the picnic on Saturday. The fully catered event (featuring an Aperol Spritz stand!) was hosted by our generous benefactors, Laurence and Philippe Roux. The FFF - Fédération Française de Football organized soccer tournaments for children and adults, and there was face-painting, balloon shaping, beading, a magic show, and lots of other activities coordinated by Melinda Prom and her magical crew. To wrap up (before the rain came!) we celebrated The École's 15th anniversary with an unforgettable Flatiron cake from Empire Cake! 🎂

The École - or I for that matter - don't get a mention in the New York Times every day so here you go : a little story about the great Open street scheme allowing schools to block the streets of New York so our kids can play outside. We were one of the first schools in the city to jump on the opportunity to take part post COVID, even if this is in fact a much older tradition.

🏫 Exciting times ahead for The École!

💻 The Nuit du c0de is an international coding competition (founded by Jean-Yves Vesseau and Alexis Kauffmann in Taipei in 2016). In 2024, 11,507 students from 346 different cities took part. At The École, Camille Martin, Guillaume Duchier, Alice Rotival, and Camille Riche worked with 27 students from 4th to 7th Grade from January to May to prepare for the big event. On Friday, May 17, the coders invented games from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and a little mouse tells us there will be some exciting news to share about the international results when we come back to school in September!

Camp d’été 2024! ☀️ Il nous reste quelques places! There is no minimum level of French or English required to take part! 🇫🇷 🇺🇸 Our summer camp staff is composed entirely of The École’s Maternelle, Elementary, and After-School program teachers.
