Subscribe to our newsletter, Black Educators, Be Well: https://black-educator-be-well.ck.page/fbb2124668 Amidst all the conversations about recruiting Black educators, where are the discussions about retention? The Exit Interview podcast was created to elevate the stories of Black educators who have been pushed out of the classroom, main or central office. The podcast asks guests to share their education journey, the "last straw" that made them decide to leave education, and, most importantly, what they are doing now that they have left the traditional education sphere. The Exit Interview hopes to inform school district administrators, teachers' unions, families, educators and others interested in better understanding the challenges of retaining Black people in education. While our nation and the world are consumed with conflict and distraction, we cannot lose touch with the importance of educating Black youth. The Center’s Sharif El-Mekki shared his testimony in Washington, DC to the House Committee on Education and the Workforce about how Black educators are crucial for student success. Since the Brown vs. Board of Education ruling, the national educational system has stymied the process of hiring and retaining Black educators. Here at the Center for Black Educator Development, through policy and advocacy, we’re committed to Rebuilding the #BlackTeacherPipeline – one #BlackTeacher at a time… #WeNeedBlackTeachers. Will you join us? See El-Mekki’s full testimony here: https://lnkd.in/gqxF7eGf
