We’re excited to announce Mark Ashwell as our Tech of the Month for October! With over 38 years of experience, Mark is a seasoned veteran in the locksmith industry, with deep knowledge of access control systems, safes, and traditional locksmith services. His journey to FlyLock Security Solutions began in 1986, when he took a position for a small locksmith shop in Manchester, CT. After learning the basics of locksmithing, Mark worked on various government projects for the military in Virginia, including the Department of Defense, and Department of Justice, in addition to working on all the safes and locks inside the NATO building. Mark also did work for the DEA, responding to emergency calls for safe openings during raids. He would later move across the country to California, where he got his first introduction to access control. After six years, Mark moved back to Connecticut, where he started his own safes and vault company for 12 years. Shortly after transitioning to freelance work, Mike Brown hired him to join the team at FlyLock’s Metro West MA branch. Mark’s impressive career also includes teaching at the Peterson School in Worchester, where he taught locksmithing for four years. His teaching continued, training the current techs working for the Metro West MA franchise—with one of the techs being his son Austin, the acting lead tech of the branch. Currently operating out of both the Metro West MA and Springfield branches, Mark has a busy schedule, working on projects primarily in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Knowing the dedication he’s put towards the industry and the company, Mark is excited to be recognized for excelling at a job he loves surrounded by great people. “I was surprised, I didn’t know I was nominated, and I don’t really look for any recognition. We’re proud to announce Jason Musmeci as our Tech of The Month for September! Jason is highly regarded in the New Orleans area for his expertise in access control, door hardware, and security cameras. As a valued member of our team since 2017, Jason’s loyalty and commitment to taking on new challenges and big projects stands out. Unlike many technicians who follow a traditional path to the locksmith industry, Jason’s journey to FlyLock Security Solutions featured some interesting stops along the way. With over 11 years of experience working on a variety of ships, he transitioned to building ships for U.S Joiner after previously working for the Delta Queen Steamboat Company in the boiler room and a small cruise line in Rhode Island for six years. His training in installing electromagnetic locks on the ship eventually led to him obtaining his license, which enabled him to specialize in safe work over the next six years. Jason would go on to own his own company in Mississippi, before later joining the FlyLock team in New Orleans. Since then, Jason has excelled in advanced locksmith services and access control, which can be attributed to his logical approach to troubleshooting at job sites. “I’m a logic thinker. Electronics and mechanics are basically the same thing. You just find where it stopped working and then trace it back. It just has to be methodical when you go back”. Putting everything he has into his work, Jason appreciates being recognized for his efforts. “I don’t think I’m better than anybody else, but it’s nice to be recognized occasionally for all the sweat you put in.” Congratulations Jason! Our experts revolutionized security and accessibility at a local public school system by installing ADA- compliant door hardware and updating their master key system. Here’s how we did it: Our local teams joined forces to make a massive upgrade in accessibility and security throughout the district by replacing locks, making safe combination changes, and replacing over 175 outdated door handles that weren’t ADA-compliant. We didn’t stop there!
