GW Nursing’s Office of Research and Center for Health Policy and Media Engagement are proud to award the second School of Nursing Mentored Pilot Award to Assistant Professor Billy Mullins DNP RN NE-BC, and his mentors, Cathi Cox and Michelle Rumble! Their project, "Exploring the Factors that Impact the Career Paths for Men Entering the Nursing Profession," aims to shed light on the challenges, motivations, and opportunities that shape men’s experiences in nursing. As the profession continues to evolve, research like this plays a crucial role in fostering a more diverse and inclusive workforce. Congratulations to Dr. Mullins and his team—we can’t wait to see the impact of your work!

In partnership with Inova Health Blood Donor Services, GW Nursing's Office of Community Engagement hosted its second annual blood drive last week at the Virginia Science and Technology Campus in Ashburn, VA. The six-hour event brought together members of the GW community and the public, resulting in 30 donors and the collection of 28 units of blood. The Inova Blood Donor Services team ensured a smooth and efficient donation process, while a dedicated group of #GWNursing student and staff volunteers assisted with check-ins and public engagement. Inova expressed their appreciation for the strong turnout and the valuable contributions made by our community. The Office of Community Engagement extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated—especially those who rolled up their sleeves to donate. We look forward to continuing this important effort with Inova and the Ashburn community next year!

Our Spring Open House was a huge success! We loved welcoming prospective students to explore our programs, meet our incredible faculty and staff, and get a firsthand look at our state-of-the-art simulation labs. From insightful conversations to exciting program highlights, it was a day filled with connections and inspiration. We can't wait to see some of these future nurses join the #GWNursing community!

#GWNursing Professor Ashley Darcy Mahoney, PhD, NNP was recently featured in a Today Show article discussing the dangers of measles, a highly contagious virus that can lead to severe complications like pneumonia, encephalitis, and long-term immune system damage—especially in young children.
