It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of George E. Heger, former President and Chairman of Granger National Bank, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16, 2024. His GNB legacy began in 1973, when he moved his family to Granger and acquired a controlling interest in the bank. During his time in Granger, not only was he a passionate community banker, but he was also a respected pillar of the community. He was a partner in charge of the "Granger Industrial Foundation" which provided assistance to local startup businesses. He donated his time and money to local organizations including Lions Club, Ducks Unlimited, and the SSCM Catholic Church and School. George was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, veteran, and banker. Granger National Bank will establish a scholarship in George’s name to honor his 51 years of service to our institution’s 104 year legacy.
