We’re excited to share a special story of reconnection and achievement. Kelley and Fatima first met in 2020, and their paths crossed again when Fatima was awarded the HITEC Foundation Scholarship in 2023. Their check-in meeting this year was even more meaningful as Fatima was awarded another HITEC Scholarship, and she had so many exciting updates to share! Over the summer, Fatima completed an internship with AbbVie on the data analytics team in Waukegan. She had an incredible experience with her cohort, truly enjoyed her time there, and remains passionate about the healthcare tech sector. Congratulations to Fatima on all her accomplishments! Meet multi-year HITEC Scholar, Kenneth Borrero (Kenny)! Kenny and Kelley Francis caught up about all he has accomplished since they were last together at a HITEC event in San Francisco. Kenny is graduating in December in a record 3.5 years and will be seeking a full-time role in the gaming industry or tech overall. If you are looking for a stellar computer science and game development new hire, look no further than Kenneth Borrero!

Returning HITEC Scholar, Diego Piazza, E.I., met with HITEC Foundation Executive Director Kelley Francis to discuss his future plans. Diego gradated in Spring 2024 at the top of the engineering class and decided to continue his education and pursue a masters degree in structural engineering at Florida International University. Diego mentioned being extremely grateful for the support of the HITEC Foundation and how instrumental attending the 2023 Gala was for him. He will be seeking an additional internship or job opportunity while in finishing school. Special thanks to his mentor, Wander Morrobel from KPMG for all his support. #HITECScholar

Two-year HITEC Scholar, Alexandra Tate, met with HITEC Foundation Executive Director Kelley Francis to discuss her summer, plans for her sophomore year in college, and to further discuss how the HITEC Foundation would continue support her.
