Our AmeriCorps members with Institute for Diversity and Inclusion in Emergency Management are making sure no community is left behind in the aftermath of #HurricaneHelene. I-DIEM's Equity Response Team mobilized in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina to support equitable response and recovery efforts for under-resourced, and marginalized communities impacted by the storm. From developing resources, providing equity and vulnerability assessments to logistics and communications, our members are ensuring underserved areas receive the resources they need. I-DIEM works with diverse communities post-disaster to identify inequities, re-direct key resources, build sustainable relationships, and reduce the timeframe for recovery. When disaster strikes, such as Hurricane Helene and Milton, these gaps in infrastructure turn small crises into overwhelming challenges. The result?
