About us
The first scientific conference committed to probiotics (since 2000) - world leading event where the movers and shakers of probiotic science meet. At #IPC2024 - scientists from academia and industry present current advances in the research, production and use of probiotics, prebiotics, microbiome modulators, pharmabiotics, live biotherapeutic products, postbiotics, psychobiotics and provide insights in their role in maintaining #health and preventing #diseases. The 17th International Scientific Conference on #Probiotics, #Prebiotics, Gut #Microbiota and #Health – IPC2024 will be held during the 18th - 20th June 2024 Prague, Czechia. The goal of conference is to provide a scientific forum for all stakeholders of probiotics and prebiotics and to enable the interactive exchange of state-of-the-art knowledge. The conference is focused on evidence-based benefits, health claims proven in scientific experiments and clinical trials. New scientific evidences that support or question the efficiency of already existing or prospective substances and applications will be conferred. In addition novel strains, controversial but scientifically solid ideas, approaches and visions will be presented as well. Further to its scientific content, IPC2024 is a networking event. It is a unique opportunity to meet all the stakeholders of probiotics and prebiotics. Participants will met those who influenced the past, influence the present and most importantly will shape the future of probiotics and prebiotics by means of basic research, clinical trials, regulatory efforts or development of industrial technology. Initiation of cross-boarder co-operations between scientists and institutions will be also facilitated. #ipc2024

I'm still buzzing from an incredible week at the International Scientific Conference on Probiotics, Prebiotics, Gut Microbiota and Health - IPC2024 #IPC2024 in Prague, Czech Republic. What an amazing platform for scientific exchange and networking! Highlights: • Had a great time presenting on "Akkermansia Muciniphila - A Star Player in Next Gen Probiotics" • Chaired three engaging sessions: Next Gen Probiotics, Phages, and Simulations and Modeling Gut and other Organs • Connected with brilliant researchers shaping the future of gut health science and represented #VidyaHerbs. The combination of cutting-edge research, stimulating discussions, and the beautiful host city made for an unforgettable experience. I'm leaving inspired and energized, already looking forward to IPC2025! A huge thank you to the organizers and all the participants for making this such a valuable event. #IPC2024 #GutHealth #Probiotics #Prebiotics #Microbiota #Research #Science #Collaboration #VidyaHerbsUSA

Gut Microbiome Stability: The Role of Persistent vs. Transient Colonizing Bacteria #Mysummary This paper investigates how transient colonizing species (TCS) impact gut dysbiosis and functional impairment compared to persistent colonizing species (PCS) in the human gut microbiome. By studying a Swedish longitudinal cohort (n=86) over a one-year period and validating these findings in other geographical regions, the researchers discovered two key microbial populations: 🔹PCS are stable residents that support microbiome richness and stability, while TCS are transient and linked with destabilizing effects, akin to the "Anna Karenina Principle" effect. 🔹TCS were found to increase in various diseases such as cardiovascular disease, type-2 diabetes, and colorectal cancer. Interestingly, they were linked with harmful compounds like indoleacetic acid. 🔹The relationship between PCS and TCS is not just local to Sweden—it’s globally conserved! This was validated in cohorts from the USA and Italy. Bacteria Observed: 🔹PCS Examples: Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, Roseburia hominis, and Eubacterium eligens. 🔹TCS Examples: Klebsiella pneumoniae, Veillonella parvula, and Streptococcus mitis. Fusobacterium nucleatum #Mythoughts The "Anna Karenina Principle" (AKP) refers to a concept derived from the opening line of Leo Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina: “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” The Anna Karenina Principle in this paper implies that a healthy gut microbiome (rich in PCS) is relatively uniform and stable, meaning all the necessary factors for microbial balance are present. In contrast, a dysbiotic (unhealthy) gut microbiome, often dominated by TCS, can deviate in different ways due to disruptions in different factors, making each instance of dysbiosis unique. HAPPY to hear your THOUGHTS and stay POSITIVE! #Myinspiration “If you lose, don't lose the lesson.” Dalai Lama Link to the paper here: https://lnkd.in/edc73-8T #microbiome #science #biology #health #pharma #diet #nutrition #probiotics #therapeutics #startup #biotech Saeed Shoaie

#Probiotic cleaner a sustainable category? - Are so-called "probiotic cleaners" subject to biocide regulation? You bet they are.... though many wish they are not. Think twice before jumping on that wagon as a free loader... The European Court came to a crystal clear ruling in this regard ▶️▶️▶️https://lnkd.in/dy6MVd6w

Tomorrow is International Microorganism Day. Celebrated annually on 17 September, it is aimed at raising awareness about the importance of microorganisms within our daily lives. This year, to celebrate these tiny organisms, a group of Society Champions have shared quotes and images, illustrated by Champion, Eliza Wolfson, describing their favourite microorganism.
