Congratulations to the Kennedy Center’s Hip Hop Culture program, led by Simone Eccleston, for receiving two awards at the 39th Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards! 🎉 The Hip Hop Culture program was recognized with the award for Excellence in the Performing Arts, and Simone received an award for her Visionary Leadership. Thank you to everyone who voted, and to Mayor Bowser for uplifting the art and creativity found across DC. One of the earliest hip hop performances on record at the Center was the 1983 Kennedy Center Honors when the New York City Breakers performed honoring dance legend Katherine Dunham. From that first performance… to Kendrick Lamar performing with the NSO… to the formation of the Hip Hop Council… to icons LL Cool J and Queen Latifah receiving Honors… to D-Nice headlining the Opera House with Club Quarantine Live… the uniquely American artform of Hip Hop thrives across our campus! At YouTube, we believe GenAI should elevate creative jobs, not replace human creativity. Today at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Creativity & Tech Summit in Washington D.C., we unveiled our most extensive survey to date into how the global creator economy is using GenAI. A few highlights from this new research from Radius: • 92% of creators surveyed are currently using GenAI tools • 47% of creators surveyed say they use GenAI for editing text, images, audio or video • 29% of creators surveyed say that one of their top three reasons for using GenAI is to save time YouTube's Head of Culture & Trends in EMEA, Roya Zeitoune got the creator perspective from Colin Rosenblum and Samir Chaudry, Hosts of the Colin and Samir Show, about how creators are using GenAI in the creation process and how they can retain authenticity while utilizing GenAI. As GenAI continues to evolve, we’re excited to see how creators can push the boundaries even further. Find the full research report here → yt.be/AIandCreators

This week we came together at the first ever Congressional Record - a bipartisan celebration of art and arts education. What an evening of joy as members of Congress shared their musical talents and spoke passionately about the importance of arts education. Arts education isn’t just about supporting the next generation of artists. It’s about supporting the next generation of doctors, scientists, electricians, accountants, engineers, teachers…and yes, politicians! An education rich in the arts shouldn’t be reserved for the lucky few. It should be a right enjoyed by all Americans. As the National Cultural Center, the Kennedy Center was proud to join in this celebration of the artistic talents of our members of Congress. And I have to say as a processional concert attendee, that talent is thriving! It’s not easy to get up on stage, and I was SO impressed by all the performers. Thank you for sharing your talents and maybe we’ll see you on the Millennium Stage soon…! Thank you to our partners at the Library of Congress, Roll Call, the Recording Academy, and ALL the members of Congress who participated for making the first Congressional Record a success!
