Creating Inclusive Collaborative Workplaces
About us
Since 1970, The Kaleel Jamison Consulting Group, Inc. has been partnering with organizational leaders to make meaningful and sustainable change that not only positions the organizations for greater success, but also benefits individuals in the organization and the communities in which they are located. When an organization retains our firm, they gain our commitment to "be there," to challenge them and ourselves, to learn and grow together in partnership. As we work with each client, our goal is to transfer technology and expertise and to build capacity within clients to sustain change.

Key Spotlight 🔑 : Share Street Corners When problem-solving, a leader or a subject matter expert may often share their thought and, in an inclusive effort, asks others for their “perspective.” That word, “perspective,” has become synonymous with “what did I say that you agree with?” and we end up losing out on some key pieces of information. We prefer the language of “street corners.” When I share my STREET CORNER, I remember it is MY corner, not THE corner. My colleagues have different street corners that are true for them. Accepting these facts allows us to be curious 🤔 about why other may see a situation differently. Instead of viewing difference as a deficit, we begin to see difference are necessary for success. Key Spotlight 🔑 : State Your Intent and Intensity With more and more of our communications occurring through technology, it’s easy to get mixed signals about what the other person means (intent) and how much they mean it (intensity). Using the language in the graphic – Notions, Stakes, Boulders, and Tombstones – eliminates second guessing, miscommunication, and wasted time as a result of not knowing what the other meant. Tip 💡: Say it out loud or type in an email “This is just a notion! I’m thinking…” OR when others share their thinking, ask 🗨️ “Is that a notion, stake, boulder or tombstone?” To learn more, see the comments section for a link to download a free copy of “4 Keys to Collaboration” article.

Key Spotlight 🔑 : Listen as an Ally!👂 When listening as an ally, we listen deeply and with our full attention, viewing others as partners and opening the door to collaboration. Listening as an ally requires slowing down to really hear the other person before responding. Check out the tips to support you and others to listen as allies. For more information on Listening as an Ally, see the comments section for a link to download a 🆓 copy of “4 Keys to Collaboration" article.
