The CatalyticCapitalConsortium (C3) is launching a new chapter of field-building work to promote greater and more effective use of #catalyticcapital!   Building on its learnings over four years and leveraging the support it has received from the field, the C3 initiative will extend its efforts, working with six new philanthropic partners beginning in 2025 to broaden and deepen the global community of practice for #catalyticcapital and to accelerate the flow of this vital form of #impactinvesting so that impact funds, organizations, and enterprises can fuel progress on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.   MacArthur Foundation, one of C3’s founders, will continue to help support and lead these efforts, and it will be joined by C3’s new partners: Blue Haven Initiative, Builders Vision, Ceniarth, The Lemelson Foundation, Small Foundation, and Walton Family Foundation.   Together, we are working to enable a more just, equitable, and resilient world.   Read more about this exciting expansion of C3’s work: https://lnkd.in/dQD3T6Z5   #socialinvestment #climatefinance #SDGs #familyoffice #philanthropy #socialjustice #climatejustice

The NAI-USPTO Invention Ambassadors Program — an initiative from the National Academy of Inventors and the USPTO — is designed to highlight the power of academic invention by spotlighting accomplished innovators from a cross-sector of fields like AI, sustainability, and green technologies, and taking their messages and stories on the road at speaking events around the country. An ecosystem of resources can transform a student’s bright idea into a lifesaving device. Joy Turnheim Smith, dean of the School of Education and Business and director of Distance Education at Elizabeth City State University, earned a VentureWell grant in 2024 to expand problem-based learning coursework on her campus – which in turn supported early-stage innovators like Angel Teagle. Teagle, an ECSU student, is the founder of Car Seat Companion, a Bluetooth-enabled pad that is designed to protect children from preventable hot car deaths by alerting parents if children are left behind in the vehicle during rising temperatures. With Smith’s support, Teagle brought his idea to life by forging a strong network of partners at VentureWell’s E-Team program and at HBCU Founders Initiative. Last week, Lemelson Foundation Program Officer Katie Krummeck was also exploring youth education and support programs in Oregon, attending the inaugural Youth Impact Summit sponsored by Oregon State University. The summit included two days of professional development workshops and collaboration between OSU and external K12-focused programs having a positive impact on Oregon’s youth — including around STEM, invention education, and the arts.
