About us
Lost&Found is the leading young adult mental health policy, research, and program support organization in South Dakota and the surrounding region. Lost&Found is more than just another awareness organization. We seek holistic solutions for young adults suffering from depression or suicide ideation, providing services such as peer mentorship, research support for campus counseling centers, and capacity building for community coalitions to address all aspects of suicide prevention. We are also a pioneer in providing customized mental health evaluation and research services for college campuses. Whether conducting a campus-wide needs assessment or simply evaluating the effectiveness of a mental health program, Lost&Found provides the tools to better understand the mental health needs of all students, not just those receiving support from a counseling center. Our work is about more than just saving lives; we focus on what it means to live life well. On this page, you'll find a variety of content from our campus chapters as well as opportunities to join our team.

Today on #NativeAmericanDay, we honor the history and culture of the nine tribes that call our beautiful state home. We are reminded that the systemic racism that our Native and Indigenous neighbors face has a direct impact on their mental wellness. According to NAMI, mental illness affects ~19% of Native American and Indigenous peoples, and the suicide rate is higher for them than for any other group in the United States. Join us in remembering the lives of those that came before us and the lives that have been lost to mental illness caused by generations of harm and trauma. Photo credit: South Dakota Tourism
