    President and CEO, AdvaMed

One week ago, we wrapped up The MedTech Conference, and what an incredible few days we had in Toronto. Now, as we close the books on the meeting, I have been reflecting on how much progress we have made, not only with the Conference but more importantly as the medtech community.   It was the largest MedTech Conference ever, with 4,350 attendees. The largest number of countries represented ever: 48. The largest number of participating companies ever: 1,926. And the most exciting gathering of medtech innovators in the world.     The big turnout showed the strength of the U.S.-Canada relationship in medtech innovation. The leadership of Kevin Lobo, Chair and CEO of Stryker, as co-chair of the Conference was critical to its success, as was that of fellow co-chair James Brodie, General Manager, Canada, Johnson & Johnson MedTech. Holly Sheffield, President of CooperSurgical, led the development of an outstanding program. And we certainly couldn’t have pulled it off without the leadership of Nicole DeKort, President and CEO of Medtech Canada, and her stellar team.    A special thanks goes to the amazing leaders at AdvaMed that helped execute this extraordinary event: Jennifer Brearey, Ray Briscuso, Sarah Arth, CAE, and Erin Lee, along with their incredible teams.   But The MedTech Conference is about much more than attendee numbers and the AdvaMed team. It’s about people – the 4,350 people who demonstrated hands-on medtech in the exhibit halls, who joined panels, digging into the issues necessary to promote medtech innovation; and the patients, both onsite telling their stories and the millions more worldwide whose lives are made better because of medtech.     In my keynote welcome address, I reflected back on the tremendous advancements in medtech over AdvaMed’s 50-year history and previewed some of the miraculous medtech innovations yet to come. I was happy to celebrate the thousands of people in the room and their counterparts worldwide who wake up every day with a passion to help patients. They make a huge difference in so many lives in the U.S., Canada, and worldwide. Their energy, intelligence, and problem-solving skills inspire all of us in #medtech to do our best work. I’m grateful for their dedication, whether on stage in Toronto or behind the scenes. Every bit of it matters to patients.     We left energized and inspired to continue our work representing medtech over the next year. Thank you to the AdvaMed team for the tremendous amount of work that went into this record-breaking event. You set the bar for next year!    I hope to see everyone again along with many new faces at the next MedTech Conference in San Diego, October 5-8, 2025!

"Healthcare is under immense pressure today. Big challenges and not enough time," said CEO Roy Jakobs. "But imagine a future where healthcare professionals can devote more time to patient care, in a sustainable way." This is the picture Roy and other Philips leaders painted for #healthcareleaders at The MedTech Conference. Here’s how #healthcareinnovation and partnerships can help us deliver better care for more people: ✅ Revolutionizing patient care by harnessing the power of AI AI continues to reshape our industry, driving innovation in diagnosis and treatment. However, patient care remains a local endeavor, tailored to communities and unique needs. As we advance, we must balance technological progress with a local, patient-centered approach. ✅ Creating more impact via public-private partnerships Collaboration is critical to delivering adaptable, agile solutions that give clinicians the time they need to focus on what matters most — caring for patients. Partnerships across sectors empower us to create impactful, sustainable solutions, especially in underserved communities. ✅ Increasing access to care by aligning MedTech regulations globally Working closely with regulators worldwide is essential to achieving harmonization. Aligned standards across borders can help patients gain faster, more consistent access to life-saving health technologies. #MTC24 #HealthTech AdvaMed, Julia Strandberg, Carla Goulart Peron, MD MBA, Jeff DiLullo, Stephanie Nelson Wimmer
