Earlier this June, The Menil Collection welcomed an international cohort of early to mid‐career curators to participate in a workshop at the Menil Drawing Institute, funded through J. Paul Getty Trust's Paper Project initiative. "Inside Drawings: A Workshop on the Materiality of Unique Works on Paper" addressed the physical components of drawing practices to give curators of drawing collections a broader understanding of unique works on paper for the purpose of better defining, researching, and interpreting drawings. 

In the late 1960s, John and Dominique de Menil commissioned Andy Warhol to create a series of portraits of Houston-based curator Jermayne MacAgy. '"Triangle Belt Piece" is a perfect example of "Abstraction after Modernism"'s thesis: highlighting how artists have continued to explore nonrepresentational art in the decades following abstract expressionism's mid-century heyday," reports Chron.com. "The show also is made up of new acquisitions—40 in total—that the Menil has collected over the last 15 years. They include drawings, sculptures, paintings, collages and other forms."
