What does “growth” look like at your law firm? It isn’t a one-size-fits-all goal. Scaling your business looks different from one firm to the next, but one thing remains constant as you work toward your goals: your plans must be backed by data. Once you’ve defined what success looks like, consider these four data-driven approaches to growth. Focus on one or two metrics and analyze the operational means through which they could be improved: 1️⃣ Increase your average fee-per-case. Focusing on higher-value or more complex cases can boost your revenue without increasing client volume. This might mean being more selective about your cases or negotiating more effectively with adjusters to maximize recoveries. 2️⃣ Serve more clients at the same average fee. With the operational infrastructure to support it, you can take in more clients to increase your top line. Think about how you can automate routine tasks, improve intake efficiency, and strengthen referral networks to bring in more cases. 3️⃣ Resolve cases faster. Without sacrificing client care, look for ways to reduce resolution time, like streamlining discovery, leveraging technology, and setting clear milestones for each phase of litigation. The quicker you can close cases, the more clients you can help in the same period. 4️⃣ Lower your cost per acquisition. Marketing is essential, but how much you spend per lead can make a big impact on your bottom line. Analyze your marketing channel to ensure your message is resonating effectively, with qualified clients, and make adjustments. Focus on the data that directly impacts your firm’s growth. By defining your goals, you can align your strategy to achieve the numbers you need to move the needle for your practice.

“They knew they had a problem and made a decision not to tell anyone about it. That's really what the case was about.” This choice to keep quiet cost Suzuki Motor Corp. $20 million. After two hung juries, one mistrial, and a case spanning more than a decade, Suzuki was finally found liable for Scott Winkler’s 2013 motorcycle crash that left him paralyzed from the waist down. The cause of the accident? A faulty braking system, which Suzuki knew about, but didn’t release a recall for until several months after Winkler’s collision with an SUV. Tune in to this episode of Million Dollar Breakdown where attorney Joshua Moore explains how his team tackled this long and unique case, including: - Implementing Keith Mitnik’s methods for jury selection - The complexities of fighting against an international corporation - Understanding the science behind accident reconstruction This is an episode you won’t want to miss.
