Empowering immigrant women in NYC to obtain meaningful employment or pursue education in NYC, and to build community.
About us
The American Dream asserts hard work equals success. The truth is that this American Dream is unreachable for many immigrants, and for many immigrant women especially. Regardless of where they are from and their education level, women are more likely to be out of the workforce or underemployed. This is particularly the case for immigrant women who lack a US education: one in three are out of the workforce, and many more remain employed in low-wage or temporary positions making it difficult to provide for their family and climb the socioeconomic ladder. New Women New Yorkers has been serving immigrant women since 2015. We provide workforce development and other programs to empower immigrant women to secure their first paying, meaningful job in the NYC workforce or pursue higher education. We create a better, more equal, and more prosperous United States when we include immigrant women in the workforce. Our core values: Inclusion & diversity: New Women New Yorkers believes in the vast potential that every immigrant woman coming to New York has to contribute to our city, regardless of her national origin, cultural background, or educational level. Equality of opportunities: We endeavor to level the playing field so that gender, country of origin, ethnicity, family background, and other characteristics that are beyond an individual’s control do not impact a person’s outcomes. Freedom to choose professional path: We strive to offer our participants with the resources and support they need in order to pursue their chosen professional path.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we proudly highlight the inspiring story of Hispanic and Latina Diana Cespedes, PM, a LEAD graduate who exemplifies resilience and determination. Diana's journey began in Costa Rica, where she built an 18-year career as a civil engineer, working on large-scale residential and hospitality projects. But her dream of taking on new challenges led her to New York City—a bold move that came with its own set of obstacles. In NYC, Diana faced a new job market and the challenge of rebuilding her confidence in a highly competitive environment. "It’s incredibly difficult to continue believing in yourself when everything around you has changed. You no longer feel like the same person you were before—the empowered woman you used to be seems distant. New fears and insecurities creep in, and the greatest challenge becomes overcoming that mindset," Diana reflected. Through the LEAD job readiness program with New Women New Yorkers, Diana found support, community, and regained her confidence. After months of hard work, she secured her first professional role in NYC as an Estimator at Hunter Roberts Construction Group! 🎉👷♀️ Diana’s journey is an inspiring example of perseverance, courage, and determination to thrive, no matter the challenges. Today, we celebrate her success, not just as a professional, but as a trailblazer for immigrant women in engineering! 🌟💪 #SuccessStory #WomenInEngineering #Immigrantwomen #ImmigrantSuccess #NYCProfessionals #Resilience #NewHorizons #Empowerment #HispanicHeritageMonth

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to you for helping make the practice session possible, Audicus. Your participation and support made a huge positive impact on the members who attended this event. We are especially grateful to Patrick Freuler for his inspiring welcome to immigrant women, offering them encouragement and a sense of belonging. Events like these remind us of the importance of fostering a diverse workplace culture where women from all backgrounds can find their place, pursue their dreams, and contribute meaningfully to society. Thank you once again for your generosity and commitment.
Audicus recently teamed up with New Women New Yorkers, a nonprofit organization based in NYC that supports immigrant women from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds as they re-enter the workforce in the United States. This vibrant community helps women navigate their career transitions and pursue meaningful employment and educational opportunities in a new country. We had the pleasure of participating in mock interviews and offering career advice. If you, or your organization, are interested in getting involved, we encourage you to reach out to New Women New Yorkers and consider volunteering with this impactful organization. A big thank you to Dayra Barona and Martha Arbelaez for hosting us—we had a fantastic experience! #NewWomenNewYorkers
