The Posse Foundation
Non-profit Organizations
Posse is one of the most comprehensive and renowned college access and youth leadership development programs in the U.S.
About us
Posse started in 1989 because of one student who said, “I never would have dropped out of college if I had my posse with me.” The Posse Foundation identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes. The Foundation extends to these students the opportunity to pursue personal and academic excellence by placing them in supportive, multicultural teams—Posses—of 10 students. The Foundation’s partner colleges and universities award Posse Scholars full-tuition leadership scholarships. The Posse Foundation is a national initiative with program offices in 10 cities: Atlanta, the Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, D.C., Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans and New York. Posse recruits students from 20-plus cities across the United States, and nationwide through the Posse Veterans Program. Looking for more Posse stories on LinkedIn? Last weekend, The Posse Alumni Conference gathered alum virtually to network, skill share and build community. It also presented an opportunity to hear insights from industry leaders like Neil Blumenthal and Luis Miranda. With the United States general election fast approaching, Vanderbilt University Alum and Posse National Board Member Marvin B. Figueroa offered this advice: "In over a decade of work in politics, I’ve learned that those who are empowered to vote are the people considered in decision making processes. If you care about health, gun violence or education, it matters who we put in these elected seats. We must look up and down the ballot and vote both nationally and locally.” Election Day isn’t the first day to vote this year—it’s the last. Early voting has started in at least 40 states. Get started today. Check out When We All Vote for more info. 🗳️🗳️🗳️ #PosseVotes #MakeAPlanToVote #VoteEarly

Earlier this year, Pomona College Scholar Gianna Hutton González was selected for the Smithsonian Institution Leadership for Change Fellowship. The program “recruits young people who are motivated to support their communities and advance social justice.” “Science communication sticks out to me as a way to ignite empathy,” says Gianna. “We need to invest in education so that people actually understand what is at stake when we talk about climate disasters.” Read about Gianna and other Scholars and alum here: https://lnkd.in/gZQDit7T #ScholarsInAction #ACenturyOfLeaders #LeadershipDevelopment
