This October, we have dyed our hair pink again to spark conversations about something very close to our hearts, breast cancer. As young mums when we were diagnosed, we were balancing motherhood with the fear and uncertainty that comes with cancer. Now, pink hair is our way of raising awareness, encouraging early detection, and reminding everyone that breast cancer doesn’t care about age. So, if you see us rocking pink hair, don’t hesitate to stop and chat, every conversation is a chance to spread awareness. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and for us it holds a deeply personal meaning. We were young mums when we were diagnosed with breast cancer, juggling mum life, and chemo appointments all at once. It’s a journey that was filled with challenges, but also resilience and courage. This month, we will be out in the community sharing our stories to raise awareness. While it's often seen as something that affects older women, the truth is that young people can be diagnosed too. When a friend or loved one is diagnosed with cancer, we often focus on their physical treatment and recovery, but the emotional toll is just as real and sometimes overlooked. The mental health challenges they face like fear, uncertainty, and anxiety are very real, both during treatment and in life after remission. Cancer doesn’t just end when treatment does. Life after cancer can bring its own set of emotional challenges, and it’s important to remind our friends that they don’t have to face it alone. A simple check in can mean the world.
