From Crisis to Transformation: A Federal Housing Policy Agenda I am so very proud to be part of the National Housing Crisis Task Force (Visit: https://lnkd.in/e4bhEr2C) as we launch From Crisis to Transformation: A Federal Housing Policy Agenda. Today, on the eve of #ElectionDay, we issue an urgent call for action: treat the housing crisis like a true crisis. Our bipartisan Task Force, convened by the Nowak Metro Finance Lab at Drexel University and Accelerator for America, calls on the federal government to lead decisively, restructure programs to boost housing production and preservation, remove regulatory barriers, and support the creation of an additional 750,000 new units annually. Our agenda outlines 40 critical reforms that will support renters, reduce homelessness, bolster homeownership, and drive innovation in housing—bringing the American Dream within reach for millions. With #housingpolicy on ballots across the country, this moment demands a coalition of public and private leadership. We’re ready to take action. The Policy Solutions team led by Emily Dowdall at Reinvestment Fund knows how to build community through data information sharing. Our Executive Director, Wesley E. Myrick, was among the featured leaders asked to share about anchor institutions' role in community development. Our houses of worship can add even greater value to communities through our policy work. Many thanks to the KNGDM Group, the Student Freedom Initiative, and The Steinbridge Group for being amazing collaborators and to the moderator Christina Alexis.

📈 This week in Jacksonville was all about how data has the power to transform stories into action. It’s hard to sum up the energy we felt at our Community of Practice: Data Driven Housing Policy in the Southeast event in Jacksonville this week. Coming together with an incredible group of public officials, community development professionals, thought leaders, funders, and data analysts to connect, share insights, and exchange best practices left us feeling grateful and invigorated. The Community of Practice (COP) offers a unique space for stakeholders from a wide range of places—ranging from large cities to smaller communities—to collaborate on using data to create opportunity and drive change. Participants engaged in dynamic peer learning discussions, went on a guided tour of key community investments in Jacksonville, and attended expert panels on critical topics including data-driven housing strategies for community wellbeing, the role of HBCUs in housing, and the connection between housing and jobs. Small group conversations provided valuable insights into preserving affordability, stabilizing distressed markets, and understanding investor trends. Leah Rothstein's keynote on how to redress the legacy of segregation was a highlight of the event. We are grateful for everyone who shared their stories with us, making this event a powerful opportunity for collective growth, celebration of success, and learning. Each narrative contributed to a rich tapestry of experiences that we can take home and apply in our respective communities—and we look forward to continued collaborative action! And of course, thank you to our incredible host the Jessie Ball duPont Fund!

real-world experience and calm counsel to help mission-driven organizations leverage transformative opportunities

Day 2 of Reinvestment Fund’s Community of Practice on Housing in the Southeast was so rich. * Kickoff Keynote by Leah Rothstein about ways we can combat government-sanctioned racial segregation in housing. * Breakout on housing as a social determinant of health. * Discussion about HBCUs as enduring anchor institutions. * Session on intervention effectiveness. * Closing underscoring the need for both public and private buy-in, and the role philanthropy can play in having the long view. Leaving Jacksonville proud of RF’s impact and grateful for wonderful new colleagues and opportunities for engagement and collaboration.

real-world experience and calm counsel to help mission-driven organizations leverage transformative opportunities

Excited to be a board participant at Reinvestment Fund’s Community of Practice convening around data-driven housing policy in the Southeast. Learned about RF’s Market Value Analysis ofJax, heard about using housing-related data to improve community health, and toured several investment sites: The Corner at Debs Store - former family grocery store brought back to life and expanded; Union Terminal Warehouse - huge warehouse turned affordable housing and maker space; former industrial area destined to become the Phoenix Arts & Innovation District; campus of Edward Waters University, part of RF’s HBCU Brilliance initiative; and Lift Ev’ry Voice & Sing Park honoring the Johnson brothers, composers of the Black National Anthem. So grateful for this opportunity to engage with passionate public and private sector advocates!
