Securing A Healthier India

About us

Founded in 2018 by Gayatri Mathur, a distinguished professional in the field of physical therapy, our foundation emerged as a beacon of hope for the countless individuals and families caught in the web of India’s healthcare disparities and financial challenges. With over three decades of experience as a clinician, researcher, and professor, Gayatri recognized the urgent need for change. She sought a new path, one that would infuse her every day with purpose and vitality. Our story began as a response to a daunting reality: in India, 300-350 million workers earn meager incomes between $3-$5 dollars per day, while 65 million individuals struggle in poverty due to medical catastrophes. In a country where the healthcare landscape leaves too many in the ‘unsweet’ spot—neither eligible for government support nor able to afford upfront medical expenses—families are left with unimaginable choices. The Soondra Foundation steps into this void, serving as a safety net for those who would otherwise be trapped in a cycle of despair. Our immediate medical care grants become a lifeline, preventing not only health crises but also intergenerational poverty. Our mission continues with our sights set on a grander vision—to reach thousands, to mend broken health systems, and to create a legacy of empowerment.

In India, the gap between healthcare availability and accessibility is very much evident among the working poor. Despite the existence of quality medical facilities, many individuals and families struggle to afford necessary treatments during emergencies. This financial hardship not only jeopardizes their health but also perpetuates a cycle of poverty. The Soondra Foundation is committed to breaking this cycle by providing critical financial support to those in need. Through targeted cash grants, we ensure that individuals can access timely medical care without the fear of financial ruin. Because the U.S. dollar is so strong, the cost of a simple fracture in India is about the cost of a t-shirt in the States. Your small gift can bring hope to vulnerable communities across the country.
