About us

Our Mission: The Stick Exchange is here to provide new and used hockey and lacrosse equipment to underprivileged and disadvantaged children in the Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts areas. Sporting activities promote team-building and provide children with a means to strengthen their minds and bodies. Unfortunately, for many children living in poverty, even the simplest of equipment can be beyond the means of their families or schools. This is where The Stick Exchange enters the game! Who We Are: The Tait brothers, Rory, James and Charlie have played hockey as long as they can remember. They are all goalies. In the summer of 2012 they noticed that they had begun to accumulate quite a bit of old and used, but perfectly good hockey equipment in their garage. They realized that they probably weren't alone and that they should figure out a way to put the gear to better use.   The boys work together to find organizations that need used equipment to help get under-served kids on the ice.  To date the equipment The Stick Exchange has collected has gone to organizations in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and with the help of Defending the Blue Line, to States reaching across the country.
