By the community, for the community! The 735-acre Wolcott Community Forest has been successfully preserved, offering an incredible opportunity for everyone to connect more closely with nature. The forest is within walking distance of the town center and directly adjacent to the Wolcott Elementary School and treasured trail systems, providing students and residents with access to outdoor recreation. This new community forest will play a crucial role in protecting local rivers, preventing future forest fragmentation, and serving as a space for outdoor education and community connection. Tonight, to celebrate 5 years of publishing, Reasons to be Cheerful (RTBC) will host a live variety show at New York City’s Town Hall. The show will feature a few moments in which they bring to life the kinds of solutions stories that RTBC is all about. One of those moments will be lead by our very own Danielle Denk, Community Schoolyards Initiative Senior Director, who will highlight our Community Schoolyards work. Over the past 30 years, the project has transformed 350 schoolyards across the US into amazing environments for learning, recreation and community. These spaces benefit the school during the workday, and after hours, they become a park for the entire community to enjoy. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ehETRt9N

The Pines to Mines Regional Trail will be a landmark trail in California, ultimately spanning 72 miles across the Sierra Nevada, but gaps prevent it from completely connecting from Truckee to Nevada City, CA. With the help of our partners at Truckee Donner Land Trust and Bear Yuba Land Trust, we’re helping close those gaps by safeguarding 3,500 acres as an addition to Tahoe National Forest so more trail fun can be had across these majestic mountains.
