We asked our Summer Leadership Institute fellows, “What does having a woman of color on the presidential ballot mean to you?” Their responses were filled with hope, envisioning a future where young girls, from all backgrounds, see no ceiling to their ambitions. For these young leaders, this moment symbolizes the possibility of creating a more inclusive, equitable future–one where leadership reflects the richness of our diversity and the fight for justice. With these young changemakers on our side, we are full of hope for the possibilities of a future rooted in compassion, love, and representation for all. As we approach November 5th, we are reminded that each vote is a powerful act and a chance to shape our feminist future. With ballots making their way into mailboxes across California, we encourage you to embrace the hope embodied in casting your vote. https://lnkd.in/gUDFU3Ed

We invest in, train, and connect community leaders to advance gender, racial and economic justice.
About us
Women’s Foundation California is a statewide public foundation dedicated to achieving gender, racial, and economic justice by centering the experience and expertise of communities most impacted by systemic injustice. We work to invest in, train, and connect community leaders to advance gender, racial, and economic justice. We do this by providing grants to small community-led organizations, training community leaders through the Women’s Policy Institute, and fostering a community of advocates, donors, policymakers, grantmakers, academics and many others through convenings to share knowledge and strengthen the social justice movement in California. Unlike private foundations, which are endowed with funds from a family’s wealth or corporate earnings, community foundations gather their financial contributions from the public — from individuals, families, and businesses who want to support social change. Learn more about our work by visiting our website: www.womensfoundca.org.

As we honor Indigenous Peoples Day, we reflect on the lasting impact of settler colonialism and the ongoing struggles Indigenous communities continue to face. The theft of Indigenous land is not just a historical event but an ongoing reality that demands accountability and action. Recognizing the genocides unfolding across the world today, we are reminded of the deep parallels between the violence faced by First Nations peoples globally and the urgent need for a united commitment to human rights. At the Women’s Foundation of California, our work is rooted in the values of Alegría, Power, and Belonging as we build a multigenerational, cross-cultural movement for healthy, safe, and prosperous communities. We go beyond acknowledgment by taking concrete actions to support rematriation and return land to Indigenous hands. In partnership with Indigenous-led organizations, we are committed to returning stolen land and upholding Indigenous sovereignty. Together, with Alegría, strength, and solidarity, we are building a feminist future that honors Indigenous rights and restores justice. Read more on our blog: https://lnkd.in/ggkH9TED

Inspired by the conversation with Jasmine Rashid and Kimberly A. Financial Activist Playbook workshop is this week, Wednesday, 9/18 12:00-1:30 pm PST. Join us!
Wrapping up book launch week and lkjhgfdfxghj many more reflections (and even more thank you notes) to come. I am in a state of awe and exhaustion and I don’t yet have the words. 🥹💚 So — here are some snippets from last week when I ~did~ have the words, and the immense honor, of launching my book in conversation with Kimberly A. (Director @ California Domestic Workers Coalition) and Beatriz (Bia) Vieira (CEO of Women's Foundation California), talking about wealth theft, naming what we deserve, and winning big for our communities. I’m endlessly grateful to the WFC team for helping make this dream collaboration possible, and in some good news… 🧚🏽♀️📗WE’RE COLLABORATING AGAIN THIS WEEK! 🫶🏽❤️🔥 RSVP to join us this WEDNESDAY (12-1:30pm pt) for a free virtual workshop breaking down the 🎱 strategies of “The Financial Activist Playbook.” We’ll be getting real on the role money plays in our lives and society, and how we get to reclaim and transform finance as a tool for justice. See ya there? 🥰 https://lnkd.in/gyhGCZeN
