Prize laureate and prolific storyteller Etgar Keret penned an emotional but hopeful letter to his mother for The Guardian on the events in Israel of the past year. “A lot of Israelis have been saying they’re glad their parents aren’t alive to see what’s become of the country for which they sacrificed so much, but I feel sad every day not to have you,” Keret writes. “I know that if you were alive, you and Dad would have straightened things out around here, or at least managed, as you always did, to look into the darkness and gloom and find a hopeful path of light.” Read the full letter at https://lnkd.in/gF3YnDCp.

Amy Bach, founder and CEO of Measures for Justice and our 2018 laureate, was a dynamic moderator for a panel discussion about the challenges of running a social justice nonprofit with fellow laureates Jared Genser, David Hertz, and Nik Kafka at our 20th Anniversary events in NYC. Amy in particular discussed the importance of data transparency, the complexities of criminal justice reform, and the resilience needed to lead a nonprofit committed to change - thank you to Amy and all of our laureates!

Our esteemed laureates gathered to celebrate 20 years of #TheCharlesBronfmanPrize, and each took time to share about the problem they seek to solve. Hear from humanitarians like Dr. Amitai Ziv, Eric Rosenthal and more - and look out for part two later this week.

What a beautiful week of programs we had to celebrate the 20th anniversary of #TheCharlesBronfmanPrize at the Jewish Museum in NYC. It was a special honor to celebrate the legacy of these laureates and their impact as we look to the next generation. Thank you to the many teams involved without whom this would not be possible: Photoville, Marc Friedland, Fremont Blue, Juliette Erani Miller, The Jewish Museum and Martin Irom PR. #ThePrize20th

A great start to UN week here in New York! A celebratory Chinese dinner with my former pro bono client Siamak Namazi, who spent years as an American hostage in Iran, with CNNi’s Christiane Amanpour. Christiane covered the story relentlessly over years, but most famously with a jailhouse interview with Siamak via phone from inside Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison in March 2023, which came as a shock to the regime. That interview, where Siamak appealed to President Biden to help bring him and the other American hostages home, made an important contribution to their ultimate release on September 18, 2023. Christiane later described it as the most compelling interview she had ever conducted over her entire career. You can see it here: https://lnkd.in/e5wdQ_RR - Siamak will be doing his first interview since his release now one year later with Christiane this week. And on Wednesday night, she is up for an Emmy Award for “Best TV News Interview,” for 2023, an award that is richly deserved.
