Our children deserve more. Read more in this month’s message from our CEO ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eqT-qY-t

Find a school. Fund a future.
About us
Our Mission We identify, coordinate and connect philanthropic resources—through effective public-private partnerships—to leverage investments in local public schools. We target strategic priorities that have a measurable impact on the success of students regardless of zip code, family income or chance. The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia is an independent 501(c)3 not for profit organization that serves as a fiscal intermediary between the private sector and the Philadelphia public education system. We are the only philanthropic organization that works directly with school leadership to align the investments of partners—private foundations, corporations and businesses, community organizations and individual donors—with the strategies that will impact the success of students attending our neighborhood public schools.

At the Fund for the School District of Philadelphia, we support innovative learning experiences for students of all ages. We also invest in evidence-based models shown to advance student achievement. One new, promising initiative that combines both qualities is Mayor Cherelle Parker’s extended-day, extended-year pilot program, currently operating in 20 district schools and five charter schools. Here is how it is going. https://lnkd.in/e6q_5Kxc

“1:1 connection makes the biggest difference.” Yesterday, The Fund’s President and CEO Kathryn Epps joined Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence and School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Tony B. Watlington Sr. for the launch of POWER Up at Feltonville School of Arts & Sciences. POWER Up aims to empower middle school students residing in high gun violence areas by fostering a robust support network both in their schools and communities. Originally launched in Atlanta, POWER Up will now be implemented in three Philadelphia's middle schools to address the rising issues of violence, poverty, and systemic obstacles.

🚨 Giving Alert! Our partners at the PNC Foundation recently awarded $175,000 to James G. Blaine School in North Philadelphia through its Grow up Great program. The grant will fund “Beyond the Asphalt: Enhancing Early Learning and Play at the James Blaine Schoolyard,” a project to create an outdoor classroom designed to enrich Pre-K education through experiential outdoor learning, deepening their understanding of environmental science and connection with and in the natural environment. We can’t wait to see the project come to fruition!
