Addressing the every day needs of people impacted by cancer

About us

Cancer changes everything. Doctors treat the disease. We Are Here addresses the impact cancer has on the rest of your life. Every member of our team has been diagnosed with cancer, has been the caregiver of a family member with cancer, or both. We have personally experienced how disruptions caused by the disease can deprive us of time, energy, and money and can incur a deep psychological toll. We Are Here changes that. Our market network gives anyone affected by cancer an inclusive community that works together to get people what they need. We Are Here ensures that all people impacted by cancer have equitable and efficient access to resources, guidance, everyday services, and ways to give back.

There are over 650,000 cancer products, non- profits, and community resources. Yet, there is no centralized location to find the appropriate ones. This lack of collaboration and structure in the cancer care industry creates an endless list of contact forms, email threads, and phone calls that increase overwhelm for patients and caregivers. Often, key resources can be overlooked and patients miss out on crucial support they need. That’s why We Are Here. By creating a cancer navigation platform that harnesses the power of AI alongside human navigators, we are able to democratize access to support, offer a tailored solution to each patient, and remove challenges before they become barriers to care. Panelists at the 2023 AONN+ Annual Conference in San Antonio agree that industry collaboration is a necessity for navigators committed to enhancing patient care. We believe that a rising tide lifts all boats, and that is why we are encouraging our partners across the industry to join our platform, and get cancer patients one step closer to the resources and support they desperately need. https://lnkd.in/gybdxi_T #PatientCare #HealthcareInnovation #IndustryCollaboration #OncologyCare #MedicalAdvancements #HealthcarePartners #EnhancedCare #PatientSupport #CollaborativeCare

Did you know? 86% of our members continue with our services 10-12 months after onboarding. We close critical gaps in access to cancer care resources to address patient struggles, increase revenue, lower costs, and improve outcomes. For clinicians, this expands their ability to address patient challenges without increasing time demands. For health companies, this removes barriers to care which drives revenue, and improves adherence, which protects revenue and lowers costs. #HealthcareInnovation #CancerRemission #WeAreHere #SupportAndCare

We are excited to share insights from our CPO, Alex Grishaver, featured in an enlightening interview with AgeTech Collaborative™ from AARP 🎙️ Last month, Alex Grishaver sat down with Mark Ogilbee from Agetech Collaborative to have an in-depth conversation about the general need for a more modernized approach to supporting the cancer journey, and how our platform is addressing current gaps in patient care. Topics covered include striking a balance between AI resource curation and traditional human navigation, our path towards becoming HIPAA compliant, and the need for a more personalized patient care experience than the typical big black resource binder. We’re honored to share Diamond's story. Diamond, a 31-year-old Native American and Black woman with stage IV ovarian cancer who lives in DC, got accepted into a clinical trial in Houston, TX, in May 2023, but the need to relocate for 6 months was financially impossible. Luckily we were able to connect her to over $21,000 of support in the form of: ✈️ Free air travel  🏨 Free and discounted lodging in Houston 💵 Cash toward travel expenses 🥗 Nutrition counseling and groceries  🤝 A peer mentor with similar experiences  🛡️ Professional insurance navigation IMPACT: This support gave Diamond hope, got her into the right care, improved trial diversity, reduced recruitment delays, and protected future revenue for the trial sponsor. We’re grateful to be part of her journey. 💪✨ #ClinicalTrials #HealthEquity #WeAreHere #Hope #FutureOfMedicine #OvarianCancer #DiversityInTrials

Today we honor Juneteenth, a day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States and celebrating freedom, resilience, and progress. As we reflect on this pivotal moment in history, it's essential to address the ongoing challenges and disparities African American communities face today, particularly within healthcare. At We Are Here, we are dedicated to advancing health equity and ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has access to quality cancer care. It is our mission to close the care gap and provide resources and support for marginalized communities. Did you know that early detection of colorectal cancer has increased among African Americans, leading to improved survival rates over the past decade? This positive trend highlights the impact that can be made when giving marginalized communities access to health resources, screenings, and education. Join us in honoring Juneteenth by committing to a future where equitable healthcare is a reality for all. Together, we can make a difference and pave the way for a healthier, more just world. 🖤❤️💚 #Juneteenth #HealthEquity #CancerCare #EndCancerDisparities #TogetherWeCan

Co-Founder, We Are Here I AgeTech Collaborative & Techstars Healthcare Founder '24

When you receive a life-shattering diagnosis (in my case, this has happened twice), you face a choice: succumb to the pain or use that pain as a catalyst to pave the way for others. I chose the latter. Today, the company I co-founded graduated from one of the best accelerators in the world, Techstars Healthcare. When I left a secure job to found this company, I told myself that if I could help just one person have an easier time than I did, I would have done my job. Two years later, we are now a national company serving patients and their families across the US. Our goal is to standardize access to the resources needed before, during, and after cancer, to improve health outcomes and reduce barriers to care. I never set out to be an entrepreneur, but here we are. You are not defined by what happens to you; you are defined by what you do with it. Thank you so much to the amazing Techstars team and all our incredible mentors who helped us get to this point. Your guidance and support has been invaluable! Onward! Allison Kitain Matt Kozlov Ahmed A. Mirza Elena Friedberg Haley (Cassriel) Lyons David H. Do, Ph.D. (도현웅) Chris Saxman Louis Levine Andie Rhyins Jason Cole Jess Schram Hyein Cho, Ph.D.
