The Creative Hall of Fame has honored over 225 individuals in advertising, design, and more over its 60-year history. This September 5, nine more will be added, including the Type Directors Club’s TDC Medalist. Get your tickets now! Instead of just listing their achievements, we asked friends and colleagues of the inductees to share personal stories starting with “I remember this one time when...,” offering funny, poignant, and even embarrassing insights. This week, we highlight educator Deborah Morrison, a Distinguished Professor of Advertising at the University of Oregon. Over the past few decades at both UO and the University of Texas at Austin, Deborah has guided countless careers with her innovative curriculum, taking students out of the classroom and into unique environments like an Alaskan glacier or a landfill in Ghana.

As an award-winning director, photographer, writer, and overall creative, she’s known for evoking deep emotions with her vibrant, unapologetic style. Rooted in Brooklyn and first-generation values, Kajal’s biggest inspiration was her Dada (grandfather), who encouraged her to use her voice bravely and thoughtfully.
