A new era in migraine therapy

About us

Theranica is a neuromodulation therapeutics company dedicated to creating effective, safe, affordable, and low-side-effect therapies for idiopathic pain conditions. Our initial focus is on migraine, one of the most common neurologic disorders affecting over 1 billion people, with a high prevalence and morbidity, especially among adolescents and females. The company’s award-winning flagship Nerivio® REN wearable is changing the game for migraine sufferers, especially the 100 million adolescents facing this complex and non-curable disease. Nerivio is the first and only REN wearable that harnesses the natural power of the brain to shut off migraine symptoms without the use of drugs. With early intervention being key, Nerivio offers a safe and side-effect-free alternative, empowering adolescents to take control of their health and providing a foundation for complete migraine care as they transition into adulthood. Theranica is a neuromodulation therapeutics company dedicated to creating effective, safe, affordable, low-side-effect therapies for idiopathic pain conditions. The Nerivio REN wearable is FDA-cleared and CE-marked for the acute and/or preventive treatment of migraine with or without aura in people 12 years of age or older. It has been used in more than 650,000 migraine treatments in the US, including by adolescents and veterans living with migraine. Learn more by visiting our websites, theranica.com, and nerivio.com.

Advocating for Migraine Treatment: Addressing Insurance Barriers Insurance delays, denials, and switching are more than just minor inconveniences. These practices deeply impact migraine patients’ quality of life and put a heavy burden on the healthcare system. The consequences? Treatment delays, more severe and frequent migraine attacks, and increased visits to the ER, urgent care, and unplanned doctor appointments. Patients miss school, work, social gatherings, and precious time with family, which can lead to both financial and emotional strain. If you or someone you know has been denied access to migraine treatment, it’s time to take action. In a recent webinar from Migraine Disorders, Dr. Deanna Duggan, a neurology specialist from Texas Children’s Hospital, highlighted the Nerivio® REN wearable as a game-changer  for families hesitant to use daily preventive and acute migraine medications, which may have side effects that can disrupt adolescents’ routines.* As a dual-use migraine treatment, the Nerivio REN wearable is FDA-cleared and supported by 21 clinical publications that demonstrate robust evidence of efficacy and safety. Adolescents ages 12 and up who are diagnosed with migraine can use the REN wearable for prevention and acute treatment to manage their migraine disease independently and without disruption. The Nerivio REN wearable is a drug-free, dual-use treatment option that can easily integrate into an adolescent’s treatment plan so they can take control of their migraine right from their smartphone.  Watch the full webinar here: https://lnkd.in/erfbdqhF  — *Nerivio® is a neuromodulation device indicated for the acute and/or preventive treatment of migraine with or without aura in patients 12 years of age and up. Nerivio can be obtained with a medical prescription. As with any therapy, there may be side effects and contraindications. Not all patients respond to the therapy in the same way, meaning that treatment results can vary individually. Consult with your healthcare provider to see if Nerivio is right for you. Recent findings from a study by Shao, et al. published in “Headache: The Journal of Head & Face Pain” highlight migraine preventive treatments significantly improve functional ability, correlating to reduced headache frequency and less severe symptoms of depression [1]. As a dual-acting treatment, the Nerivio® REN wearable can be used for prevention to effectively reduce the frequency, duration, or severity of migraine. As a drug-free treatment, it carries no risk of Medication Overuse Headache (MoH). Unfortunately, many health plans overlook the efficacy and safety associated with Nerivio, which is why advocating for coverage is crucial. It’s time for insurers to recognize effective, drug-free treatments like the Nerivio REN wearable and expand coverage to ensure underserved patient populations, like adolescents, have access to the care they need. Students living with migraine disease face substantial stress when thinking about heading back to school. These adolescents deserve to be set up for success with a migraine treatment that allows them to participate in day-to-day activities the same way any other student would—without going to the school nurse for dosing or even missing class. That’s why we designed the Nerivio® REN wearable with these three benefits to send students back to school with confidence: - Drug-free: Treatment with the REN wearable can be done right in the classroom and under clothing, allowing students to discreetly manage their migraine without disrupting their day. - Hassle-free: The REN wearable is self-administered and does not require water or gel application. It is also controlled through a smartphone app, making it easy for students to manage their treatment independently.  - Safe: The REN wearable allows students to stay present and participate without the unwanted systemic side effects often associated with prescription medications. Here's to making this school year a great one—for everyone! Learn more here: Nerivio.com

We’re excited to announce that we’ve expanded our GIER (Guided Imagery, Education, and Relaxation) feature in the Nerivio app with leading headache psychologists, Dawn C. Buse, PhD, and Dr. Elizabeth Seng! What is GIER? GIER offers guided and educational videos to enhance the Nerivio® REN wearable treatment. Research shows that combining GIER with Nerivio leads to better pain relief than REN alone and faster return to normal activities [1]. The new GIER UP! video library was designed to complement acute and/or preventive Nerivio treatments. The library features 14 sessions totaling nearly 7 hours of content in 3 unique programs: - Guided Treatment Companion: Engaging videos and visualizations of brain activity during migraine and how Nerivio works. - Behavioral Migraine Management: Interactive sessions on migraine management principles and practical application. - Relaxation, Rejuvenation & Resilience: Sessions designed for muscle relaxation and breathing to rejuvenate your mind, and boost your nervous system's resilience. The ‘GIER UP!’ video library is available free of charge during treatment. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/ewNv68Cg — 1.Buse et al., Pain Medicine, 2022

Research shows that empathic care in medicine is associated with greater patient satisfaction and adherence.[1] In that spirit, we wanted to share one patient's honest perspective of what she wishes her provider understood about living with migraine: “Dear Neurologist, I am writing to share the emotional journey of living with chronic migraine and seeking your care. While you see many patients, you are the only neurologist I have. My life with migraine is far from ‘routine.’ I feel terrified, exhausted, and desperate by the time I reach your door. I’ve been through numerous doctors and treatments, each leaving me more drained. Despite this, I remain hopeful that you will offer a solution. Please understand my fears, frustrations, and hopes as you treat me. Your expertise and compassion can make a profound difference in my life.” You can read the full letter for a deeper understanding of how you can better support patients like Linda here: https://lnkd.in/d3GNriNF. — 1: The Mindful Migraine Blog, “A Letter to Neurologists”

Research indicates [1] that veterans with headache disorders are more prone to accompanying pain and sleep disorders, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and PTSD diagnoses. Yet, despite these findings, migraine, a prevalent headache disorder, often remains underdiagnosed. This underscores the urgent need for increased awareness and support for our veteran community, especially when it comes to managing migraine and related symptoms. The stigma surrounding migraine can further complicate access to necessary treatment, exacerbating the challenges our veterans already face. Organizations like the American Migraine Foundation continue to raise awareness and provide resources for our veterans living with migraine. We’re proud to say that the Nerivio® REN wearable is a safe, effective and non-disruptive treatment option covered under VA benefits to address the unmet needs for this patient population.  Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eGWuyXDk — 1. Have you heard? There’s a light at the end of the tunnel for adolescents living with migraine—for providers, patients and caregivers. “In my busy headache clinic, I see so many mothers who are not only frustrated but are explicitly asking for a therapy that’s not a pill for their child. As clinicians, we constantly seek safe and effective alternatives to improve the quality of life of our adolescent patients. I have seen firsthand the profound impact of the REN wearable on adolescents living with migraine disease. Its ability to consistently provide relief from pain and functional disability sets a new standard for safe and effective intervention. It’s become the first-line treatment option in my practice, and my patients are seeing clinically meaningful improvements. In my humble opinion, REN is, for the first time, a light at the end of the tunnel for many of our little friends. Not only is the data speaking for itself, but also in practice I have seen so many happy parents, as their kids enjoy life again!” — Klaus Werner, MD, Pediatric Neurologist, Duke Children's Health Center Neurology Clinic - Durham, NC The Nerivio® REN wearable offers a drug-free solution that harnesses the natural power of the brain to treat migraine pain and symptoms, helping adolescent patients return to their daily lives with minimal disruption.
