Sure enough, we have already handed out all the PPEs needed by our employees on their first day, as per the OSHA ruling. But have we cared to ask and explain why it should fit properly? 🤔 💭 ❓ 🎯 Remember, aside from discomfort in wearing illfitting PPEs, it can diminish the effective value of the protective equipment, exposing the worker to identified risks and hazards. 👉 Again, it is not sufficient that we have an existing safety program, but rather a functioning system. Per the OSHA ruling, employees have the right to refuse unsafe work conditions. And to be honest, it is a passive way of telling employees to think of their safety while executing their job functions - they become Safety Leaders for themselves. 👍 Having that said, we, Safety Leaders and Managers must build a safety culture in the workplace through positive reinforcement and coaching sessions. I recall, I once did an audit at a warehouse facility a few years back, it was a small facility with no safety manager.
