Every year's 4th and 1st quarters typically feature a higher volume of events than usual. With this increased traffic of events comes an increased risk of cybersecurity attacks. Below are some cybersecurity risks specific to events: - Third-party vendors integrating with your technology (and data!) for your event - Remote workers and users using their own devices to interact with your technology - Spear Phishing emails that target your attendees, disguised as correspondence from your event In this blog, learn about the nine steps to mitigate these risks, and access a free download of our Network Security Checklist! https://bit.ly/3QPFmmJ #cybersecurityawarenessmonth #cybersecurity

Client Success Story Highlight: SmartSource in the Heart of New York City On Tuesday, October 15th, the 2024 New York City Eucharistic Procession was held at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. Thousands of people joined Cardinal Dolan and Archbishops of the Catholic Church in a procession through the heart of midtown Manhattan. The event included veneration of a relic brought over from Assisi, Italy, of Blessed Carlo Acutis, an Italian teenager who is set to become “the first millennial saint.” The “unique religious experience” was organized by the Napa Institute, a US-based organization that aims to “empower Church leaders to renew the Church and transform the culture.” SmartSource is a preferred technology provider to the Archdiocese of New York and was introduced to DeSales Media and the Napa Institute to provide technology for an overflow area outside the cathedral that could accommodate an additional 1,000 people. For the event, the NYPD closed off 51st Street between Madison and 5th Avenue, where SmartSource deployed a 17’ x 10’ mobile LED wall and a line array speaker system that enabled anyone in the vicinity to see and hear what was going on inside the cathedral and outside on the streets during the procession. Our congratulations to the NYC SmartSource team for a successful project! See the video here: https://lnkd.in/gXJCdvRn #ledtechnology #ledrentals #avproviders #audiovisual #avrentals

We're in the middle of Cybersecurity Awareness Month here at SmartSource! We have been sharing many tips and pitfalls of cybersecurity risk for businesses; this time, we want to ask you two very simple questions: "Is your organization as protected as it can be?" "If not, then why not?" If the above questions give you pause, then it's time to confront your Cybersecurity strategy. The sobering fact is, that a successful cybersecurity attack occurs every 39 seconds. So, your company being targeted by a potential cyberattack is not a matter of IF but WHEN. In cybersecurity, prevention is the smart investment choice 99.99% of the time. A single successful cyberattack can cost your company thousands, if not millions of dollars in repair costs, future revenue loss, and brand reputation. That's why we offer a FREE security check to new clients. No strings attached. Learn more about this offer below! https://bit.ly/4gJ31k0 Need to learn more about our cybersecurity services for businesses? Visit our website here: https://lnkd.in/g_sJx_e7

Julius Solaris Julius Solaris is an Influencer

Events Consultant and Creator | Follow me for insights on events, marketing and technology.

I just attended the largest show for the event industry. Here is what everybody is talking about behind the curtains. Let me sum up all the conversations that never had ‘off the record’ in it. / Content is the best activation I attended the show exclusively to be at the SmartSource booth. We had hundreds of people registered for three sessions and overflow at the booth. This is the second time we have done this after PCMA, and trust me, people showing up for a session have a different intent from coffee and champagne freeloaders. / Cvent is not stopping Cvent is dominating most of the eventtech conversations. The recent Splash acquisition was hot and their team was onsite. Splash will be kept as a separate brand for now. I spent some time talking to Reggie Aggarwal, and while he did not disclose anything, I know they are looking to buy more. Difficult to compete with such a comprehensive ecosystem. But AI is coming, and it will mess up my Event Tech Map. Mark these words. / Marketing still missing IMEX ran a mini CMO summit during the show, which was a great first attempt. Yet the industry is missing a solid marketing-driven show. Besides CEMA (currently being re-shaped by PCMA), marketing teams lack a show designed for CMOs, field and event marketers. Hotels and destinations are not the only products marketers want to learn about. We need to fix this, kudos to IMEX for starting. / C-level detachment The topics discussed by the C-level are incredibly detached from the day-to-day planning of events. There is a somewhat optimistic sense of confidence speaking to CEOs. However, operators feel the pressure of slower registrations, absurd lead times, shrinking teams, and crazy costs. The latter being the only point of convergence. This misalignment needs to be discussed. / 2025 Uncertainty Whatever is going to happen in the next three months will profoundly change the world we live in. Two major conflicts unfolding and the US elections will have an impact on our industry. There is a sense of anxiety as the industry just recovered form COVID. Brace for impact. / The Hopin Mafia is a thing I was glad to reconnect with many of my former Hopin colleagues. Michael Balyasny (founder of Attendify, exited to Hopin) just launched a new AI app called Highbar. Dave Schools just launched Singulate. Matthew Donegan-Ryan launched Fajansa. Tangent to events, Anthony Kennada launched AudiencePlus. The startup Midas, Johnny Boufarhat, is working on a new project (I hear outside of events). And I will be on stage in November in Barcelona at IBTM, talking with Kerem Baran, who recently launched Eventpak, about the crazy experience at Hopin. We are making waves in events. What did you hear on the showfloor? P.S. If you are reading this from IMEX, I’ll see you at the Smartsource booth at 12:30pm today and tomorrow for a recap.
