ENGINEERING LEADERS for Service, Profession, and Brotherhood

About us

Theta Tau is the oldest, largest, and foremost Fraternity for Engineers. Since its founding at the University of Minnesota in 1904, over 40,000 have been initiated over the years. With emphasis on quality and a strong fraternal bond, the Fraternity has chapters only at ABET accredited schools and limits the number of student members in any one of its chapters across the nation. The purpose of Theta Tau is to develop and maintain a high standard of professional interest among its members, and to unite them in a strong bond of fraternal fellowship.

For the 2023 Theta Tau National Convention, we brought the career fair back to the schedule and it was a huge success. The student members were thoroughly engaged and made a lot of meaningful connections with potential future employers. We offered a discounted rate for brother-owned businesses who were interested in tabling at Convention.    This year we are creating this experience again for our members, offering extensive discounts for businesses owned by Theta Tau members, and offering even more opportunities for sponsorships. We’re also pleased to have grown our sponsorship program to allow businesses and individuals to underwrite our Convention.    We are giving first opportunities to our brothers, and will be sending out the packet to other businesses in a month. To learn more about how your businesses can partner with us, check out our 2025 Convention Partner Packet! https://lnkd.in/eGtmMsHa

Today we celebrate our 120th Founder’s Day. When our four Founders signed the original constitution and laid out our laws, customs and Ritual, they likely never could have imagined what Theta Tau would become, or the myriad ways in which Theta Tau would affect and improve the world. From our earliest brothers who worked on technology like radio, radar and the automobile, to our modern brothers who work on rockets that will take humanity further into the stars, the impact our brotherhood has had on the engineering profession, and the world, cannot be calculated. Through it all, our members carry with them our values of service, profession and brotherhood, and set a professional standard that cannot be matched. To all of our brothers, happy Founder’s Day!

Congrats, Brother Lambrecht on this professional milestone! As you said, it is wise to stay mindful of our compulsive behaviors, and explore healthy consumption of technology in this modern day, to ensure we are spending our time on the important things in our lives. Well done!

It was an honor to have spoken at TEDx Clemson University last weekend. My segment was "Engineering Your Day For Peak Efficiency," which focused on maximizing productivity (and meaning!) in our daily lives. To accomplish this, we must occasionally assume a different perspective on life. And for me, viewing my life in the context of efficiency and inefficiency is critical. This viewpoint has allowed me to get vast amounts of work done while also balancing my time with studying and being a member in my fraternity, Theta Tau. My full talk is now available here, though an edited (for visual and audio clarity) will appear a few months later. Finally, this event couldn't have been done without the extensive planning and preparation from people like Deb Sofield, Nitya Harikumar, Jasmine Sampson, Janhavi Deshpande, Ainara Garcia, and more. This was a truly incredible event, so hats off to the organizing committee! #tedx #tedtalk #clemson #engineering #efficiency

Congratulations to Brother Alex Stockman from Beta Chapter for being recognized as the 2024 Robert E. Pope Outstanding Student Member. This is Beta Chapter's second consecutive OSM winner. The Robert E. Pope Outstanding Student Member Award is the Fraternity's highest honor for a student member. Each chapter selects their own Outstanding Student Member, who is then automatically nominated for the national award. The Grand Regent then selects a winner from among the chapter nominees. Brother Alex Stockman (Beta, '23) has shown extraordinary dedication to, and leadership of, Beta chapter, becoming a nationally recognizable name for his work at Beta, and at the numerous regional and national events he has attended. Please join the Fraternity in congratulating Brother Stockman on all of his achievements!
