    CEO | Founder @ Couch.com | Building state-of-the-art platforms

SPOILER ALERT: Couch.com has something that no one else in the furniture industry has... FALLING COUCHES BABY!!! Branding isn't always pretty people with pretty products in pretty pictures. Sometimes, it's a feel and a vibe that sets the tone just right. Sometimes, it's a simple SVG of a falling couch that makes all the difference. A huge thank you to Ryan Luce, Nina Collier, and the entire team at Third and Grove for the thoughtful, nuanced branding and design of Couch.com. It's the right design for our brand and platform and we had a lot of fun finding it together. Luv yas.

Building delightful experiences for brands like Harvard, VMware, Seventh Generation, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and King Arthur Baking Company.

I’ve done it. I’ve finally done it. I found the definitive use case for AI. And I’m going to share my discovery with you so you can use it IMMEDIATELY to boost your productivity at work and CRUSH it. CRUSH your competitors, crush your numbers, just crush it all. So a team member at my agency, Third and Grove, is getting married next week on Maui. She grew up there, so she is going home for the wedding. She is also a bit of a goth, with a wardrobe of mostly black clothes. I wanted to create a t-shirt for her and her fiancé to celebrate their upcoming nuptials. I used AI to create the (come on, admit it, amazing) image. Just one prompt is all it took. Then our Ops team created the shirts. Check out the image below. The bespoke gag t-shirt industry will never be the same.

Building delightful experiences for brands like Harvard, VMware, Seventh Generation, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and King Arthur Baking Company.

Just finished a fun time at #shoptalk and wanted to share the four major themes I heard: 👉 Headless regret I heard from multiple brands, in different verticals, that the headless builds they put in place 1-2 years ago were having problems, and they were considering going native. Once I heard they were headless I would ask "So dev velocity is slow, everything feels hard, and you are spending more on developers than you want?" And they would say "How did you know?" Headless is a good match for certain use cases. But when you are deploying the leading browse and buy consumer commerce platform with the biggest commerce app ecosystem in the history of the Internet to build a browse and buy (❗) experience, headless just makes it harder. Will 2024 be peak headless for browse and buy? Probably. 👉 If you can't create a gap in someone's understanding, don't join the conversation Many sponsors and sessions talked about "unified commerce is the future" and "put your customer at the center of the experience." Cool. Filling the air with obvious tactics does not a brand build. 👉 We are all monkeys in shoes This is of course a common practice, but it seemed like a more teams than usual justified attending ShopTalk as a way to bring their disparate team together in the same place for bonding. Smart. Nothing beats IRL time. 👉 People are tired of the AI hype, but are looking for specific use cases Eye rolls everywhere about AI, but at the same time a strong desire to find some real insights into how to brands are getting value from the tools. A good mix of skepticism and curiosity. To those that attended, what were your biggest takeaways?
