Even after leaving behind a life of trafficking and exploitation, survivors face legal barriers, inadequate resources, and societal stigma—on top of the hard work of healing from trauma. By amplifying the voices of those with lived experience, we light the way for the next woman still searching for a way out. Through advocacy, we push for legal and policy reform, increased government funding, and educate elected officials about the realities survivors face. Together, we can challenge the systems that exploit women and pave the way for a brighter future. 💜 Share this post to help raise awareness and amplify our mission. 🗣️

As we celebrate Thistle Month, we’re reflecting on the real impact of our work. Val’s story is just one example of how comprehensive support can transform lives. Her journey highlights the heart of what we do—providing the tools and community that allow survivors to thrive. "To be honest, the program all sounded too good to be true when I first got here. I felt like there had to be catch, because they just give you too much: they fix your eyes, your teeth, pay for therapy all through the program and for a while even after you graduate. They give you the tools and the community to lean on so when you go out there into the world, you can maintain your recovery. They give you a job so you can make your own money and the freedom to make good decisions with that money." -Val, Manufacturing Team Member and 2020 Graduate #ThistleMonth #ThistleFarms #LoveHeals #Nonprofit #Justice #NashvilleTN

Dignified employment is often out of reach for many survivors due to criminal records and limited access to education and training. Our Job Readiness program provides women with the tools and support to rewrite their stories, focusing on both personal and professional growth. Every woman deserves the opportunity to build a stable, fulfilling career. This Thistle Month, we’re highlighting the importance of employment as a key step toward reclaiming independence and breaking cycles of exploitation. 🕯️💜 Share this post to help raise awareness and amplify our mission. 🗣️ #ThistleMonth #ThistleFarms #LoveHeals #Nonprofit #Justice #NashvilleTN

Can I tell you what I think 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙁𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙨 𝙞𝙨? We know how 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜. We have witnessed over and over women who didn’t know what their future would be like 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮. Every month in our 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙛𝙛 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜, a group gets up and shares about what they do. This time the manufacturing group under the department called inventory, got to stand and explain how they make it possible for us to sell amazing products from artisans all around the world. Listening, 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙚𝙙, and my weariness was being 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙. 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙤 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮. Don’t get so numb you forget to get reinspired!! ..And we may or may not be having a big sale this weekend at Thistle Farms !

104 years ago, women gained the right to vote. While we've made great strides in gender equality, survivors of trafficking, sexual exploitation, and addiction still face tough challenges. Many can't fully participate in elections because of barriers like losing their voting rights due to criminal records, difficulties accessing voter registration, or feeling left out of the process. 52 years ago, Title IX opened doors for many women in education, yet survivors still face significant barriers to accessing the education and support they need to level up. 61 years ago, the Equal Pay Act was supposed to ensure fair wages, but good-paying jobs often remain out of reach for survivors because of discrimination and the societal stigma attached to their past. 50 years ago, women gained the right to apply for credit cards in their own names, but many survivors are still stuck in cycles of debt and financial instability because they never had the chance to learn about money management. 30 years ago, the Violence Against Women Act was passed to protect against violence, yet commercial sexual exploitation still relies on violence perpetrated against women to keep them in the systems that serve traffickers. 27 years ago, Thistle Farms was founded and began their mission to challenge the systems that exploit women and champion justice for all. We do this by providing safe housing, healthcare, dignified employment, advocacy, and a supportive community for women rebuilding their lives. At Thistle Farms, we believe every woman deserves equal rights and a second chance. Share this post to spread awareness this #WomensEqualityDay. Together, we can create a world where every woman has agency over her own life.

#TRVEmployees from our TN-OH Valley Claim Center participated in our Women & Allies Diversity Network-sponsored volunteer event at Thistle Farms, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women survivors heal by providing a safe place to live, a meaningful job and lifelong support. Our employees spent the day creating an art installation for the volunteer space at the #ThistleFarms facilities and putting together kits to be sold to benefit the Thistle Farms community.
